DEVELOPMENT OF AN ONLINE ANTI-BULLYING INTERVENTION WITH

TEACHERS IN SOUTHERN BRAZIL

Abstract. In the educational environment, reports of students suffering from violence caused by
bullying are frequent, which is defined as a type of intentional and repetitive violence without
apparent reasons and which can cause serious psychological, emotional and mental damage to those
involved. This article aims to present a proposal for an online anti-bullying intervention, organized
in a multi-component format, with six weekly and group meetings with having an average duration
of two hours based on the experiential methodology. The themes addressed are bullying
conceptions, conflict management, empathy, assertive communication, emotional self-control and
self-care. Considering that there is little training for teachers in Brazil on the topic of school
bullying, this intervention was developed and applied to public school teachers in the metropolitan
region of Porto Alegre. During the meetings, the participants showed interest in the themes
discussed, participated in the debates and shared their experiences. It can may be concluded that the
intervention can be replicated and has the potential to contribute to the awareness of teachers about
the importance of establishing a harmonious atmosphere in the classroom, reinforcing positive
relationships for the prevention of school bullying.
