Virtual Academy – Compass Portal

Dear Parents,

The Virtual Academy Compass Portal, was established to provide parents with access to Virtual Academy
reports and as a means of communication between Virtual Academy staff and parents. This portal will sit
alongside your child’s current school Compass portal.

If you have not already added the Catholic Schools Office Academy to your app then we would recommend
that you add this portal to your phone. When you go to the Compass app on your phone you will have the
option to select the + sign in the bottom right corner to add a portal. Search for Catholic Schoos Office
Academy, Maitland Newcastle, select and enter your Username and Password. Your current Compass
Username and Password will also give you access to this portal.

As well as being able to use the portal to access your child’s Student Profile and Virtual Academy Semester
Reports, we will also use Compass for the following:

 News items: information regarding upcoming events and workshops

 Events: You maybe asked to provide consent for your child to attend Events.
 Learning Tasks: your child’s completion of activities and tasks as they progress through the
problem-solving process
 Attendance Summary: your child’s attendance at their scheduled fortnightly video conference
 Lesson outlines: plans for each scheduled weekly or fortnightly video conference
