FLOSS FLOWER
Ageratum houstonianum,
commonly called floss
flower, is a frost-tender
annual of the aster family
that provides continuous
bloom for beds, gardens or
containers from late
spring to frost.
The plant is used to
treat throat pain or
inflammation in folk
medicine
AMERICAN MARIGOLDS
Tagetes
In traditional medicine, pot marigold petals
have been made into ointments, extracts, and
infusions and used for a variety of ailments,
including:
Fevers.
Jaundice.
Stomach ulcers.
Conjunctivitis (pink eye)
Liver problems.
Burns and wounds.
To stop bleeding.
ANNUAL VINCA
(Catharanthus roseus)
They have been used to treat
diabetes, high blood pressure and
have been used as disinfectants.
The vinca alkaloids are also
important for being cancer
fighters.

In some Native American herbal medicines, an
infusion of the black eyed susan roots have
been used to treat cold, dropsy, and worms in
children. This mixture has also been used for
sores and snake bites, while the liquid within
the roots has been used as earache drops.

Many parts of the plant have been


used in traditional medicine to
manage conditions such as
convulsion in children, facial
paralysis, tumours, sore throats,
toothache, constipation, wounds, flu
symptoms, as an antiseptic, emetic,
laxative and insecticid.
Canna
Canna can be used to
treat menstrual pains.
CANNA LILY
The root can be used to
treat gonorrhea and
amenorrhoea. In
Nigeria, people turn the
root into a powder and
ingest it to treat
diarrhea and dysentery.
They also use the
flowers as a medicine
for malaria.
