SYNTHESIS AND REACTION PAPER

Philippine Flag
The first flag to become a symbol of the Filipino people was the Katipunan flag. Many have changed here because
of the Filipinos' situation. However, there is still one message being sent—the sacrifice of heroes for our freedom.

On May 28, 1898, after General Emilio Aguinaldo returned from exile in Hongkong, our country's troops fought
against Spanish forces in Alapan, Cavite. It was in this battle that the Philippine flag was first unfolded as the
revolutionary standard. The flag was a tri-color, emphasizing red and blue. A white triangle framed three yellow stars
and an anthropomorphic eight-rayed sun. And, on June 12, 1898, following the promulgation of independence from
Spain, the same flag was waved by Aguinaldo's residence in Kawit, Cavite, as the Marcha Nacional Filipina performed.

Reaction Paper of Heneral Luna (2015, Movie)

In the movie, you can see how the great general, General Antonio Luna, fought so hard in the Filipino-American war
for the independence of the Philippines. And as he said, the Filipinos are struggling with unity, and the real enemy
of our country is ourselves, which is why our fellowmen killed General Luna because they thought he was the real
enemy.

The film narrated his life as a general, just like how they introduced his love, Isabel. She is also the leader of the local
Red Cross chapter and was perhaps intended to show that Luna had a soft side of women, revealing him multiple
personalities.

I think Buencamino and others, with the help of Aguinaldo, are behind the killings of General Luna because how
come Aguinaldo didn't know that his soldiers would kill general Luna. General Aguinaldo is an honorable man;
however, he was blinded by fear that General Luna might overpower him. And by the other generals blackmailed
him that General Luna wants; he will get it.

General Aguinaldo Values Apolinario Mabini's opinion the most because he knows he is intelligent, especially in
politics. Aguinaldo knows his capabilities and influence when running and handling the country for the revolution
that brings back the Filipinos' sovereignty in the country.

In addition, this was all narrated by the fictional character of the movie named Joven. I initially thought that the
Joven character in the film was Captain Jose Joven, whom himself had memoirs concerning the war. He is a journalist
that has a mission to publish an article about the journey of the Philippines. And He started with the life and point
of view of the great General Antonio Luna on his war journey.

Overall, I have learned that historical accuracy is essential. There are more significant truths about the Filipino nation
that we can only reach by combining the real and the imaginary.
