Abstract

In 2020 the government of India has enacted  three new farm acts mainly known as Indian
agriculture acts 2020 or farm bill.

Hon’ble president of India promulgated the ordinance which was converted into act. The
prime aim was to boost economic activity of the rural india and improve the economic
conditions of farmers.
However enactment of these acts has provoked some serious discussion criticism and even
protests in some parts of the country especially in Punjab and Haryana.

This paper presents the significant reasons behind taking these policy reforms and how these
laws address the structural weaknesses inherent in sale, marketing, and stocking of farm
produce in wholesale markets.

The paper discusses how APMC (Agricultural Produce Market Committees) markets, MSP
(Minimum Support Price), farmers, and the rural economy will be affected by these three
farm laws.

The paper addresses the efforts made by the central government to persuade the states to
adopt these reforms and the concerns raised by the farmers, leaders and critics.

The paper also gives reasons for expecting these new acts to transform the rural agriculture
and take Indian agriculture to new heights.
