Letter from the Editors!

Dear readers,

Our names are Lauren Liu and Jazmyn Delgado,

and we are your Nuntius Editors for the 2022-
2023 year. This is our first issue of the year, and
it covers everything from the Summer and Fall.
We hope you enjoy taking a stroll down
memory lane and looking at all that the NJJCL
has done so far. We are so grateful for the
opportunity to create the Nuntius and look
forward to making many more Nuntii in the
future! Thank you, also, to everyone who
contributed!

Lauren & Jazmyn

NATIONAL
CONVENTION
"After two summers of convening virtually, the 2022 National JCL Convention was back in-
person at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette! Nationals is a week-long classical
excursion filled with every academic test imaginable, captivating colloquia, creative and
graphic art contests, Ludi and Olympika, service projects, all of the JCL spirit of course, and
much more. This year’s theme was “cantantes licet usque (minus via laedit) eamus” or let
us go singing as far as we go-the road will be less tedious.

I was honored to lead our 15 delegates of New Jersey as we certainly went “singing to
victory” throughout the week. Not only were we awarded 1st place in Overall Spirit and
Service for medium states but we also forged many unforgettable memories along the
way. From all of the crazy cheering during general assemblies and Ludi games to gator
gazing on the campus lagoon together, the New Jersey delegation quickly became a tight-
knit community bound together by our love for the classics.

The highlight of my National Convention experience was hands down all of the passionate
JCLers I befriended throughout the week. Additionally, I had the opportunity to connect and
learn from other states’ consuls and executive board members. In conclusion, the pure
excitement of Nationals was an experience unparalleled to any other. Following this year’s
remarkable National’s experience, I highly encourage any and all interested in joining in on
the action to do so next summer at Emory University for the 2023 National JCL
Convention."
