ONE OF THE WORST EARTHQUAKES IN LIMA

did you know that the worst earthquake in lima was more than 200 years ago? good
morning teacher and classmates, today I am going to talk about the worst earthquake
and tsunami in Lima and Callao.
1.
2. how did he get to machu picchu? jesse's plans were to visit the majestic citadel of
machu picchu for 3 days. He arrived on March 14, 2020 without knowing that he would
stay 7 months in Cusco because of the temporary closure due to the first wave of covid-
19.
3. He rented a small apartment there and attended yoga classes taught by the apartment
owner. He gave boxing classes to local children and volunteered in philanthropic
activities. He couldn’t speak Spanish but, fortunately, was able to communicate with the
locals through English, which is commonly spoken in the town as it is a tourist
destination.
4. On October 9, 2020 he was contacted by Machu Picchu officials and explained his
situation. Cusco allowed him to be the first foreign tourist to enter the Inca citadel since
the COVID-19 pandemic began. It was set to reopen in November 2020 allowing only 30
percent of its capacity, according to Peru's culture minister, Alejandro Neyra , who
issued the special permit for him.
5. He was present at the celebration of the "safe travel" seal as a safe and open
destination for new tourists after the pandemic began. This seal was very important
because subsequently tourism in Machu Picchu had a radical change for the better. his
presence was important because his case went viral and made a big impact on the news
in other countries.
6. jesse became known worldwide for his interesting story and for being the first and only
tourist to re-enter machu picchu after the crisis. Jesse feels fortunate because he was
able to learn a lot about our culture during that time and he was very grateful to all the
people who helped him to fulfill his dream of knowing Machu Picchu. Even though he
did not speak Spanish, he was able to create a special bond with the people.
7. before jesse returns to japan, he decided to be a volunteer ambassador of cusco around
the world. he promotes cusco through his social networks and tells how his stay was. In
gratitude to the people, jesse returned to machu picchu a year later, in 2021 for
christmas and dressed up as santa claus to give presents to all the children and meet
again with the people who helped him so much.
