Scoring and Interpretation ‘True and false answers to Items 5, 7, 9, 10, and 13 are given one and zero points, respectively. For Items 1, 2, 3,4, 6, 8, 11, and 12, true and false answers are given zero and one points, respectively. Composite scores which can range from 0 to 13 are then summed with higher participant scores indicating a greater tendency to misrepresent themselves in a positive way (“fake good”) and lower participant scores indicating a greater tendency to misrepresent themselves in a negative way ("fake bad”; Lambert et al., 2016). Based on the cutoff scores proposed by Lambert et al, scores on the MCSDS-C (Reynolds, 1982) from four to eight will be considered acceptable, whereas scores from respondents below four or greater than eight will be disqualified from the study.
