1. PURPOSE
The purpose of this Fire Prevention Plan is to eliminate the cause of fire, prevent loss of
life and property by fire. This plan provides employees with information and guidelines
that will assist them in recognizing, reporting and controlling fire hazards.
2. SCOPE
This Fire Management Plan is developed in accordance with the requirements of
OSHAD-SF Element 6 – Emergency Management – Version 3.1 and the UAE Fire and Life
Code 2017.
3. DEFINITIONS
Emergency A sudden, urgent, usually unexpected occurrence or occasion
requiring immediate action.
Emergency Plan Systematic instructions and procedures that clearly detail what
needs to be done, how, when and by whom before and after the
time an anticipated emergency event occurs.
Flammable Solids Solids, or waste solids, other than those classed as explosives,
which under conditions encountered in transport are readily
combustible, or may cause or contribute to fire through friction.
Fire A process in which substances combine chemically with oxygen
from the air and typically give out bright light, heat, and smoke;
combustion or burning.
Fire Safety Signs A sign (including an illuminated sign or an acoustic signal) which:
i. provides information on escape routes and emergency
exits in case of fire;
ii. provides information on the identification or location of
firefighting equipment; or
iii. gives warning in case of fire.
Hazardous Material Solid, liquid or gaseous materials having properties that are
harmful to human health or severely affecting the environment,
such as materials that are toxic, explosive, flammable or
emitting ionizing radiation.
The <<Senior Manager>> shall be responsible for ensuring the workplace is safe through
the provision of appropriate, sufficient and effective fire management resources,
controls and training.
<<OSH Manager>>
The <<OSH Manager>> is responsible for the implementation of the Fire Management
Plan. This shall specifically include but not be limited to:
i. Providing training
ii. Providing, monitoring and maintaining fire control equipment and systems
iii. Identification, assessment and control of fire hazards
iv. Conducting fire risk assessment
v. Maintenance and update of relevant documents and records
<<Employees>>
All employees shall be responsible for complying with the requirements of the Fire
Management Plan, and shall specifically:
i. Complete all required training
ii. Conduct operations safely to limit the risk of fire
iii. Report potential fire hazards to their supervisors
