1. PURPOSE
The purpose of this Fire Prevention Plan is to eliminate the cause of fire, prevent loss of
life and property by fire. This plan provides employees with information and guidelines
that will assist them in recognizing, reporting and controlling fire hazards.

2. SCOPE
This Fire Management Plan is developed in accordance with the requirements of
OSHAD-SF Element 6 – Emergency Management – Version 3.1 and the UAE Fire and Life
Code 2017.

3. DEFINITIONS
Emergency A sudden, urgent, usually unexpected occurrence or occasion
requiring immediate action.
Emergency Plan Systematic instructions and procedures that clearly detail what
needs to be done, how, when and by whom before and after the
time an anticipated emergency event occurs.
Flammable Solids Solids, or waste solids, other than those classed as explosives,
which under conditions encountered in transport are readily
combustible, or may cause or contribute to fire through friction.
Fire A process in which substances combine chemically with oxygen
from the air and typically give out bright light, heat, and smoke;
combustion or burning.
Fire Safety Signs A sign (including an illuminated sign or an acoustic signal) which:
i. provides information on escape routes and emergency
exits in case of fire;
ii. provides information on the identification or location of
firefighting equipment; or
iii. gives warning in case of fire.
Hazardous Material Solid, liquid or gaseous materials having properties that are
harmful to human health or severely affecting the environment,
such as materials that are toxic, explosive, flammable or
emitting ionizing radiation.

4. ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES


<<Senior Manager>>
The <<Senior Manager>> shall have ultimate responsibility for the implementation of
the Fire Management Plan.
The <<Senior Manager>> shall be responsible for determining the fire prevention and
protection policy and plans.

The <<Senior Manager>> shall be responsible for ensuring the workplace is safe through
the provision of appropriate, sufficient and effective fire management resources,
controls and training.
<<OSH Manager>>
The <<OSH Manager>> is responsible for the implementation of the Fire Management
Plan. This shall specifically include but not be limited to:
i. Providing training
ii. Providing, monitoring and maintaining fire control equipment and systems
iii. Identification, assessment and control of fire hazards
iv. Conducting fire risk assessment
v. Maintenance and update of relevant documents and records
<<Employees>>
All employees shall be responsible for complying with the requirements of the Fire
Management Plan, and shall specifically:
i. Complete all required training
ii. Conduct operations safely to limit the risk of fire
iii. Report potential fire hazards to their supervisors

5. FIRE MANAGEMENT REQUIREMENTS

5.1 General Requirements


<<Entity Name>> shall take all reasonable measure to eliminate or at least minimize the
risk of fire and shall specifically:
i. Identify and control materials that are potential fire hazards
ii. Identify and control ignition sources
iii. Identify appropriate fire protection equipment and / or systems and define the
maintenance requirements
iv. Ensure good housekeeping is implemented to prevent accumulation of
flammable materials
v. Providing fire hazard identification, fire prevention, fire management, fire
response and fire control training to all employees

5.2 Fire Management and Control


Fire Prevention Planning and Control requires a structured approach to determining the
risk of fire occurring at <<Entity Name>>and identifying the controls necessary to
eliminate and / or minimize the risk.
The <<OSH Manager>> shall conduct a fire Risk Assessment in accordance with the
requirements of OSHAD-SF Element 2: Risk Management.
The <<OSH Manager>> shall ensure fire safety systems are maintained using an
appropriate third party approved by Abu Dhabi Civil Defense.
The <<OSH Manager>> shall plan and conduct fire drills at least annually.

5.2.1 Fire Protection Measures


Fire Fighting Equipment
The <<OSH Manager>> shall identify appropriate fire-fighting equipment and ensure
compliance to the of Abu Dhabi Civil Defense.
Fire Alarms
The <<OSH Manager>> shall ensure that the Fire Alarm system is appropriate,
maintained and functioning. Fire Alarm Systems shall be compliant to the requirements
of Abu Dhabi Civil Defense.
Fire exits
The <<OSH Manager>> shall identify all fire exits and escape routes and ensure that they
are appropriately illuminated, accessible and free from obstruction. Fire exits shall be
shall be compliant to the requirements of Abu Dhabi Civil Defense.
Emergency Signs
The <<OSH Manager>> shall ensure that all emergency signs and marking shall be clear
and visible throughout the facility and that emergency signs comply with OSHAD-SF CoP
17.0 Safety Signage and Signals.

5.3 Fire Emergency Training


The <<OSH Manager>> shall ensure that fire safety training is planned and provided for
all employees. Training shall be provided during induction of new employees with
refresher training given annually. Training records shall be maintained.
The <<OSH Manager>> shall ensure that training is tailored to the requirements of the
employee and that specialist training is given where deemed appropriate.
The Fire Emergency Training program will be developed by the <<OSH Manager>> with
consideration regarding the following topics:
• Fire hazards
• Fire types
• Fire Fighting Equipment
• Emergency Response Plan
• Evacuation Plan

The following documents shall be maintained in relation to this procedure:

• Fire Emergency Drill Record (<<Doc Ref>>)
