Pattern of Inheritance.
B. Performance Report on the importance of variation in plant and animal breeding.
Standard

Attendance
B. ELICIT Guide Questions:
 Have you ever thought about your existence?
 Have you ever thought of what happened before you were born?
 Have you ever asked your parents who you inherited from?
 What physical features did you inherit from your father? How about from
your mother?
 What kind of character traits did you inherit from your father? How about
from your mother?

C. ENGAGE Activity 1: “The Cell is Dividing…”

Instructions:
 When I say, “the cell is dividing group yourselves into (refer to the countdown
of the game below,” you should be grouped into the number I said and so on.
 The number will start at 17 down to 2.
 The last 4 students will win the game.
 They will receive chips for additional points.

Countdown of the Game:

 Group yourselves into 17 (half of the class which is 34 in total).
 Group yourselves into 16.
 Group yourselves into 12.
 Group yourselves into 10.
 Group yourselves into 9.
 Group yourselves into 5.
 Group yourselves into 2.

Guide Questions:
o Have you enjoyed the game?
o What can you say about the game?

D. EXPLORE Activity 2: A MINUTE TO ARRANGE IT

Instructions: The class will be divided into two (2) groups; boys and girls. They will
be given pictures about the Stages of Mitosis and they are going to arrange those
pictures according to their own analysis. The group with the greatest number of
correct answers will have additional points.

Guide Questions:
 Which among those pictures is the first stage of mitosis?
 What is the second stage?
 What is the last stage of mitosis?
 How did you identify the arrangement of Stages of Mitosis?

E. EXPLAIN Guide Questions:

What is Cell Cycle?

What is Cell Division?
What are the Stages of Mitosis?
Why are mitosis significant to organisms?
F. ELABORATE Activity 3: LET’S TALK ABOUT MITOSIS
Instructions: The class will be divided into 6 groups. Each group will have an
assigned Stage of Mitosis and they are going to give the definition of the stage of
mitosis including the processes that is happening during the given stage and its
significance in the process of cell division.

Group 1: Interphase
Group 2: Prophase
Group 3: Metaphase
Group 4: Anaphase
Group 5: Telophase
Group 6: Cytokinesis

Guide Questions:
 What is the Stage of Mitosis assigned to your group?
 What is the process taken place during that stage?
 What is the significance of that stage in the process of cell division?

G. EVALUATE Reflect and connect!

Based on what you’ve learned from the activities, assigned reading, and
models, answer the reflection question below:

 What is the overall significance of mitosis and meiosis in your growth and
development as an individual?

Rubrics: (15 points)

Relevance – 10 points
Completeness – 5 points

H. EXTEND Assignment:
Answer the Learning Activity Sheets to be submitted on Monday.
