Temp. sensor The sensor is already mounted and connected to the cable.
Reference The reference electrode (Swansensor pH SI, Swansensor ORP SI,
electrode Swansensor FL) is delivered with an electrolyte tube, which is already
mounted and filled. The sealed electrolyte bottle is also included in
delivery.
- Cautiusly take of the rubber cap from electrode tip. Make sure that the
black cap at the tip of the electrode is fastened hand-tight.
- The reference electrode has to be free of air bubbles: Hold the
electrode, tip downwards, in one hand and hold the electrolyte tube
with the other hand straight above the the electrode. Shake the
electrode slightly in an angular position to release air, which might be
inside. Release air bubbles in the electrolyte tube by knocking on it.
- Insert the electrode into the flow cell and fasten hand-tight.
- Cut off the tip of the electrolyte bottle. Take the plug out of the
electrolyte tube. Put the electrolyte bottle firmly on the tube.
- Mount the electrolyte bottle in the click holder (see 2.3 Instrument
overview, p. 11).
- Puncture the electrolyte bottle to allow pressure equilibration.
- Take off plug cap. Connect to sensor cable. Store caps.
UNIDIP fitting Please refer to the manual of the UNIDIP fitting how to install the pH/
ORP electrode and the temperature sensor in detail. Ensure that all sur-
faces and o-rings are clean. If mounted correctly, the UNIDIP fitting is
tight. No water is allowed inside the UNIDIP fitting. Otherwise the cables
corrode. If you use an UNIDIP Rinsematic, make sure the nozzles face
the pH/ORP sensor.

4 Operation
4.1 Sensors
4.1.1 Filter time constant:
Used to flatten noisy signals. The longer the filter time constant, the
slower the system reacts to changes in the measuring value.
Scalable values: 5-300 sec
4.1.2 Hold after calibration:
Delay to enable the instrument to stabilize again after calibration, so no
peaks show up on the signal output and no false limit warnings are
issued. During calibration and hold after calibration, the signal outputs
are frozen (held on last valid value), alarm values, limits are not active.
Scalable values: 5 - 6000 sec
4.2 Relay contacts
4.2.1 Alarm relay:
Here you reprogram alarm values high and low.
Alarm:
Alarm high: The measuring value must not rise above the alarm high
value, set in this menu. Otherwise the alarm relay closes and E001 is
issued. Scalable values: 0.00 - 14.00 pH, -500 to 1500 mV.
Alarm low: If the measuring value falls below the alarm low value, set in
this menu, the alarm relay closes and E002 is issued. Scalable values:
0.00 - 14.00 pH, -500 to 1500 mV.
A-96.250.441 / 060923 35
AMU pH-Redox
Appendix
Hysteresis: Within the hysteresis area, the relay does not open if the
alarm has been active. Used to prevent unnecessary relay switching
(damage), which occurs if the measuring value fluctuates around the
alarm value. Scalable values: 0.00 - 14.00 pH, -500 to 1500 mV.
Delay: The time, the activation of the relay is retarded after the
measuring value has risen above/fallen below the programmed alarm.
Scalable values: 0-28800 sec.
4.2.2 and Relay 1 and 2:
4.2.3 Here you reprogram the limit value or set-point of control, or redefine
the timer function. The available parameters depend on presetting in
Installation.
Limit upper/lower:
Set-point: If the measuring value rises above (upper limit) respectively
falls below (lower limit) the set-point, the relay closes.
Hysteresis: Within the hysteresis area, (below limit upper respectively
above limit lower), the relay does not open if the limit has been
exceeded. Used to prevent unnecessary relay switching (damage),
which occurs if the measuring value fluctuates around the limit value.
Delay: The time, the activation of the relay is retarded after the
measuring value has risen above/ fallen below the limit value.
Control: To maintain a certain set-point in the system.
Control upwards: Rises the measuring value to the set-point, assisted
by a control device. E.g. dosing alcaline solution with a pump to rise pH
value.
Control downwards: Lowers the measuring value with the help of a
control device, e.g. dosing acid with a pump into a swimming pool.
Set-point: Program the required value which should be maintained in
the system.
P-Band: Area, above (downwards control) or below (upwards control)
the set-point, where the dosing intensity is reduced from 100% to 0%,
to equal set-point without overshooting.
Timer: Relay closes as programmed, e.g. to issue the cleaning of the
instrument.
Mode: Set how often the relay should close. Choose between interval
or daily or weekly
If interval is chosen: Choose the time interval. Scalable values: 1 -
1440 min.
If daily is chosen: The contact closes once per day. Set the starting
time.
If weekly is chosen: Program the starting time and the active days. The
timer function starts on all days set to On.
Run Time: For all modes. Time, how long the relay closes. Scalable
values: 5 - 6000 s
36 A-96.250.441 / 060923
AMU pH-Redox
Appendix
Delay: For all modes. Signal outputs and control are on cont./hold/off
(as programmed below) during run time + delay time.
Scalable values: 0 - 6000 s
Signal output: Choose between continuous or hold or off.
Continuous: Signal outputs are operating continuously, the status
display indicates RUN
Hold: Signal outputs are frozen on the last valid value. Errors are not
issued, except fatal errors, which are always issued. The status display
indicates HOLD.
Off: Signal outputs go to 0 respectively 4 mA. Errors are not issued,
except fatal errors, which are always issued. The status display
indicates OFF.
Output (relay) / control (relay or signal output):
Choose between continuous or hold or off.
Continuous: Output/control are operating continuously.
Hold: Limit/control are frozen on last valid value. The state of the limit/
control is not updated according to the actual measuring value, as long
as the input is active (closed/opened) plus delay time. Reset time and
derivative time of the controller are ignored.
Off: Limits/control (signal output or relays 1+2) are interrupted. Errors
are issued.
Fieldbus
Contact can be activated/deactivated by fieldbus. No parameter setting
required.
4.2.4 Input:
Define the status of signal outputs, relay contacts, and the delay if the
input contact is activated. The setting depends on preprogramming in
Installation.
The status display shows the status of signal outputs.
Active: Choose between open or close.
Open: If the input is opened, the signal outputs and relays are on hold/
off/continuous as programmed below.
Close: If the input is closed, the signal outputs and relays are on hold/
off/continuous as programmed below.
Signal output: Choose between continuous or hold or off.
Continuous: Signal outputs are operating continuously, the status
display indicates RUN
Hold: Signal outputs are frozen on the last valid value. The
measurement is interrupted. Errors are not issued, except fatal errors,
which are always issued. The status display indicates HOLD.
Off: Signal outputs go to 0 respectively 4 mA. Errors are not issued,
except fatal errors, which are always issued. The status display
indicates OFF.

to 0 respectively 4 mA. If you have chosen 0-20 mA it is 0 mA, if you
have chosen 4-20 mA, it is 4 mA. It is the lowest value represented by
the signal output.
Range high: Choose the end of the scale. This value corresponds to
20 mA. It is the highest value illustrated by the signal output.
Bilinear: The beginning or end of the selected range can be scaled in a
higher resolution, resulting in a semi-logarithmic presentation. Program
range low, range high, range centre.
Range low and high see above: Linear
Range centre: Fixed on 10 respectively 12 mA.

should be issued and if the alarm relay should close.
Alarm flow high: If measuring value rises above the programmed
value, E009 flow alarm high will be issued. Scalable values: 10-50l/h
Alarm flow low: If the measuring value falls below the programmed
value, E010 flow alarm low will be issued. Scalable values: 0-9 l/h
5.3.1.4 Alarm Sample Temperature: Only if temp. senor has been connected.
Alarm high: If the temperature rises above the programmed value,
E007 is issued. Scalable values: -25 - 250 °C
Alarm low: If the temperature falls below the programmed value, E008
is issued. Scalable values: -25 - 250 °C
5.3.1.5 Case temp. high: Set the alarm high value for temperature of
electronics housing. If the temperature rises above the programmed
value, E013 is issued. Scalable values: 30 to 75 °C
5.3.1.6 Case temp. low: Define the alarm low value for temperature of
electronics housing. If the measuring value falls below the
programmed value, E014 is issued. Scalable values: -10 to +20 °C
5.3.2 and Relay 1 and Relay 2
5.3.3 Program the function of the relays in detail.
5.3.2.1 and Function: Choose if the relay should
5.3.3.1 - close if the measuring value rises above/falls below the set limit,
- if it should drive a control device (pump, motor valve, etc.) to maintain
a certain set-point,
- if it is used as timer (e.g. adding sensor cleaning solution),
- if it should be activated by Profibus DP.
Available settings: Limit upper/lower/control upwards/control

Control Time The control device is driven by switching on/off its power supply. Define
proportional a time interval (cycle time) as time base for control. To reduce the
dosing intensity in the p-band, the pump runs only part-time of the
cycle.
Cycle time: Defines in which interval the pump is switched on.
Response time: To avoid stressing the control device. Minimum time,
the dosing unit has to run to avoid damage, or that elapses from the
activation until the actual dosing starts.
See also graphic below.
Control by The pump is driven by adjusting the number of pulses. The relay
frequency closes/opens in the pulse frequency.

Control Only one motor valve can be connected, because both relays are
motor valve needed to work the valve. Relay 1 opens, and relay 2 closes the valve.
Program the run time and neutral zone of your motor valve.
Run time: Time, the motor valve needs to close/open completely.
Neutral zone: Within the neutral zone the controller does not react to
deviations. Unnecessary switching (damage) is avoided.
