Application: Salt water; monitoring amount of injected water; DN25...50
Solution: Ultrasonic flowmeters are installed in 60 injection manifolds.
Water injection is important to maintain production and
increase the recovery of oil. The customer required
reliable and continuous data to improve reservoir
measurements, because the manifold systems are
controlled remotely, and data is transmitted via GSM.
KROHNE supplied 200 ultrasonic flowmeters DN25...50 /
PN40...100 (compact version) with ATEX approval.

Application: LNG (liquefied natural gas)
Solution: Requirement for cryogenic flowmeters for LNG import
terminal with unloading jetties. For large LNG tankers,
storage tanks and regasification trains. Benefits: ultrasonic
flowmeters are maintenance-free, can measure
bi-directionally, have a high turndown ratio, can measure at -
169°C. KROHNE supplied complete range of liquid and gas

Solution: Need for flowmeters with long-term stability and reliability
because furnaces are in continuous operation. The cooling
water circuits must be monitored for safety reasons. In
addition to safety, a compact size, high turndown ratio and
easy installation are important. Flowmeters should be
resistant to strong electromagnetic fields.

Customer: Deltius; utility provider for industry
Application: Demineralised water; DN125
Solution: Producer of demin water, followed by storage and
distribution. Opted for ultrasonic flowmeter
because of accuracy, reliability and low conductivity of the
water. Had experience with mechanical meters that showed
inaccurate results. Results had to be more accurate for the
purpose of intercompany billing. Mechanical meters were
thus exchanged with ultrasonic flowmeters.

Application: Intake water from glaciers
Solution: KROHNE supplied eight large diameter DN1200 (48 inch)
units for low-conductive intake water. This included an extra

drinking water. The new plant is automated and designed
with an FF communication protocol.

Solution: Upgrade of district heating network required to increase
accuracy of the flowmeters to accuracy class 1. Ultrasonic
flowmeters are also not susceptible to magnetite scaling.
On-site performance checks of the installed meters by a
master meter in series. Benefits of the ultrasonic flow meters
include lack of wear or drift.

Remark: The DN 80 flowmeter measures wet gas upstream of the

downstream of the storage. As the flowmeters are installed
in series, their totalisers should indicate similar values.
However, a difference was observed. An analysis indicated
that the flowmeters were measuring at different
temperatures. After installing PT transmitters, a standard
volume calculation was set up and the totalisers were in line
with one other.

Verification on one flow rate after adjustment of K-factor
 One general K-factor will be established. No (Reynolds)
correction curve (polynomial correction) will be
implemented, neither in GFC 300 F nor in a flow computer
 Can be implemented at Euroloop. Provides an Euroloop
calibration certificate
