2 Aim
Aim The major goal of this study is to use Conversation Analysis (CA) and the
turn-taking method to assess the relative strength of the characters in Osborne's
1956 novel Look Back in Anger.

1.3 Significance
Because it confirms the intimate relationship between language and acting,
examining the dramatic style using a conversation analysis approach that includes
the turn-taking system and its relative power may be important. This research is
noteworthy because some of the characters engage in actual domination in real
situations and in real life. "In Look Back in Anger, the characters are different from
the contemporary characters," claims Alkhidir (2020). One is driven to assume that
their words and emotion reflect the circumstances in real life since it is so realistic.
The personalities are very similar to those of the post-second world war generation,
who were also perplexed, irritated, and full of uncertainty. They are the product of
the time, as seen by their actions (p. 405–406).
"As far as science is concerned, language is only a tool that should be as clear and
impartial as possible; it is subservient to the science's subject matter (workings,
hypotheses, and outcomes), which, according to popular belief, exists outside of
language and comes before it. The scientific message's content, which is
everything, is on the one hand and first, and its language expression, which is
nothing, is on the other hand and second.
On the other hand, language can no longer be the handy tool or the unnecessary
background of a social, emotional, or poetic "reality" that pre-exists it and which it
is language's subsidiary responsibility to express by submitting itself to a number
of stylistic rules. This is especially true for literature, or at least that literature
which has freed itself from classicism and humanism. The entire body of literature
is contained in the act of writing and no more in those of "thinking," "portraying,"
"telling," or "feeling." Language is literature's Being and its own reality. 94
