TYPHOON
(S.Y. 2022-2023)
I. BACKGROUND
Mahaba Integrated School is found on the foot of the mountain of Barangay
Mahaba and is one of the far-flung schools in the Division of Cabadbaran City. It is
located at Purok 1, Barangay Mahaba, City of Cabadbaran, Province of Agusan del
Norte. It takes 30 minutes of travel from the city proper when one wants to reach the
school. It is in between two rivers namely: Calibunan River and Mahaba River. The
area of the school is two hectares. The primary livelihood of people in the area are
logging and planting crops like; abaca and banana. Others depend on nature’s gift for
their survival. They used to hunt wild life animals and anything found in the forest
that support their daily needs.
The school was founded in 1985 with the starting grade levels from one to four
only. It all started as a primary school which was then called as Mahaba Elementary
School, with two teachers headed by Mr. Arsenio P. Rulida as the TIC in multi- grade
classes. Calamaba ES served as the mother school of Mahaba IS where intermediate
pupils enrolled. In the year 1995, Mahaba Elementary School became a complete
elementary school through the leadership of Mr. Herberto A. Cuasito, the District
Supervisor at that time.
At present, it is managed by the Head Teacher Rex Hussein D. Lamoste with 14
teachers and one teaching staff from Kindergarten to Grade 10. Mahaba IS is coded
with the School ID number 501722.

This Contingency Plan will not take effect without the help of our partners. We
need to tap our existing partners to carry out our plan. Like having a BLS training
with the CDRRMO, Psychosocial training with the City/Barangay Health workers,
financial and other support from the City LGU and Barangay.
EFFECTIVITY
This contingency plan for MAHABA INTEGRATED SCHOOL shall be effective and
upon publication. The plan shall be considered a “working document “and be
subjected to continuous review and enhancement by the DepEd Technical Working
Group based on latest scientific studies about geological hazards, risk assessment
findings and innovations in DRRM policies and standards.
