SAMPLE Evidences of Outreach Activity
Organizing body: College of Education in Collaboration with the Center for Research and Innovation
Where: MS Teams
Beneficiaries:
Participated by the faculty members and non-teaching staff of the different units in the
University of the Visayas, the Seminar-workshop on Crafting Action Research held last February 23, 2022
via MS Teams with Dr. Victorina H. Zosa (the Executive Research Director ) as the resource speaker, was
a success. Dr. Zosa covered the following topics:
Education Action Research: With and For the Next Generation (Bradbury, Lewis and
Embury, 2019)
Worldwide Perspectives on Action Research in Education (Stringer, Dick and Whitehead,
2019)
Legitimacy of and Value in Action Research (Dosemagen and Schwalbach, 2019)
The training started with the UV-prayer, VMGO and Philippine National Anthem. Afterwhich,
Ms. Juliena Diaz introduced the resource speaker. After the brief introduction, Dr. Zosa started her
lecture. She discussed that education action research is not a method. It is a transformative social
learning with a change agenda. The stakeholders of the school engage in cycles of inquiry and practice
within their systems. Student inclusion is the key. Students should be seen as partners, participants,
stakeholders and co-researchers with genuine voices in our collaborative work. Action research brings
together action and reflection, as well as theory and practice, in practice with others, in the pursuit of
practical solutions to issues of pressing concerns (Bradbury, 2015, p.1). After the lecture, she gave time
for the participants to ask questions and she was able to answer them accordingly.
Right after the open forum, Ms. Shiela Yaun awarded Dr. Zosa a certificate of recognition for
sharing her expertise to all of the participants. The training ended with the UV-Hymn and answering of
program evaluation was done briefly.

Implications
The attendees have understood the structure and information cascaded by the
organizing department and most of them find the training helpful and relevant in their field
and undertaking as faculty members and as thesis advisers.
Recommendations
2. Have a dry-run 20 minutes before the start of the training to facilitate smooth flow and
minimize technical difficulties.
