LAKE TOBA
I will tell you about my trip with my extended family, namely with my father, mother, brothers,
sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, and my nephews. We went to Lake Toba together and drove 8 holiday
cars, this time we headed to Lake Toba.

Lake Toba is one of the most famous places in Indonesia, which is located on the island of Sumatra,
more precisely, namely North Sumatra or often called Medan.

Lake Toba is more precisely located in the area of Parapat Simalangun City. This very beautiful lake
looks like an ocean above a mountain area as high as 900 meters above sea level. There are many
tours on Lake Toba, one of which is Samosir Island. Samosir Island is one of the most famous tours
on Lake Toba because this island of Samosir has a history of small farmers or fishermen named Toba
going fishing and got a goldfish and it turned out that the goldfish was a girl and they got married so
they had a child named Samosir. So Samosir ate his father’s lunch and fell asleep under a tree
because his father was very hungry, his father went to his house and met Samosir who was sleeping
under a tree, and Samosir admitted that he had eaten his father’s lunch and made Toba angry so
that Toba accidentally broke his oath by saying that Samosir was his son. After his words, the sky
became angry and poured down very heavy rain that drowned his village and this village is now
called Samosir Island.

On this island, there is an icon called the sigale gale doll, which is said to be able to dance, even
shed tears and can move. During certain rituals.

Then the icon on Lake Toba, namely “Batu Gantung”, which has a history, namely about a very
beautiful girl named seruni she committed suicide because her father would marry her to Namboru’s
child and seruni didn’t want to marry him and decided to jump off the edge of a cliff and jump down
with her beloved dog when seruni wants to jump, seruni’s hair gets stuck in one of the trees that
grows on the edge of a ravine, his body hangs with his dog until it becomes a rock and is called Batu
gantung.

On Lake Toba there are also many souvenirs or you can also say souvenirs, such as key chains,
clothes that read Lake Toba and carved wooden carvings that symbolize Samosir and many
others,usually selling souvenirs are around Lake Toba or on Samosir Island.
