1.1 The Quality Control (QC) Function
The Quality Control (hereafter indicated as QC) Function is an uniformity test for exercising quality control
over the images printed by the DRYPIX Lite. The following provides an explanation of the uniformity test of the
QC function.

1 In order to maintain the quality of the images printed by the DRYPIX Lite, this device is subjected to an uniformity
test. With the DRYPIX Lite keep the following points in mind when implementing the QC function for the
uniformity test.
Overview

1. Use the DRYPIX Lite to print the “QC test patterns” used for quality control.
2. Print a QC test pattern and check that an error code is not displayed on the DRYPIX Lite display
panel.
The indicated measured result and the measured results besides those of the QC test pattern are recorded on
the worksheet.
The uniformity test is periodically implemented and its results are recorded each time.
Check the results measured by the uniformity test do not exceed the standard value.
Contact our official dealer should the measured results exceed the standard value. In this case, the worksheet
with a record of the results measured by the uniformity test is required.

Quality control can be implemented using other means than the uniformity test. In addition, the uniformity test
can be implemented without the use of the QC function, however the use of the uniformity test will make quality
control easier and more reliable.

Daily usage of the DRYPIX Lite

QC function, and record the measured
results)

2.1 Preparations Prior to Performing QC
The following provides the preparations that have to be taken in order to perform QC using the QC function of
the DRYPIX Lite.

2.1.1 Preparations

Prepare the following prior to performing QC.

2 ● External densitometer
● Plastic ruler
● Worksheet
Implementation of the QC Function

(1) External Densitometer

For the external densitometer, use a densitometer calibrated with the standard density step tablet that complies with
the expiration date. The use of a standard density step tablet manufactured based on a density step tablet (NIST :
National Institute of Standards and Technology (US)) is recommended. The recommended density step tablet and
densitometer are as follows.

■ Density step tablet

Manufacturer: FUJIFILM Medical Co., Ltd.
Product name: Fuji Density Step Tablet

■ Densitometer
Manufacturer: FUJIFILM Medical Co., Ltd.
Product name: 301RS

(2) Plastic Ruler

Use a general straight ruler enabling measurement down to the millimeter. The use of a transparent ruler with an easy
to check indication is recommended.

(3) Worksheet

Make a copy of the worksheet in the appendix of this Quality Control Guide to use it.

■ Basic values and setting standards

or the basic values and setting standard value of the format, the internal density, and the external density, a suitable
F
value is set for the DRYPIX Lite at the time it is installed. In general, these values do not need to be changed.

differences. For the use of 301RS from FUJIFILM

Medical Co., Ltd. or 331 from X-Rite, installing
designated filter is needed. You are recommended to
use densitometers above-mentioned as the
densitometers other than those above need
confirmation of the accuracy of measurement.

For details about installing designated filter, see

“Appendix 1. Installing the Filter for FUJI
Densitometer 301RS or X-Rite Densitometer

2. Record the measurement results of each density in the worksheet.

Record the measurement values and the determination of the measurement results (PASS/FAIL) in the
worksheet.
● Determination of the measurement results
PASS...... When the measurement value is within the standard range of the standard values
FAIL........ When the values exceeds the range above
∗ W hen the determination of the measurement result is “FAIL”, start again from the
procedure 1. If the measurement result is still “FAIL”, increase the measurement frequency
and confirm the result. Furthermore, if “FAIL” is still measured often, contact our official
dealer as appropriate.

2.6 Measuring the Format
The following provides how to measure the [Format A] and [Format B] and record the result in the worksheet.
Perform this measurement once every three months or when changing the installation location.

1. Using a plastic ruler, measure the Format B

length (mm) [Format A] and [Format B]
of the QC test patterns.

Use the plastic ruler described in “2.1 Preparations

Prior to Performing QC”.

2.7 Confirming the Artifact
The artifact indicates irregularities in the QC test pattern, including abnormalities in the striped parts, irregular
lines, ununiformity density that can be visually observed, etc. The following provides an explanation how to
print the QC test pattern, confirm the presence or absence of artifacts, and record the confirmed result in the
worksheet. Perform this measurement once every three months or when changing the installation location.

1. Use a viewbox for visual check

whether the QC test pattern has
artifacts.

2. Record the confirmed result in the worksheet.

Record the determination of the measurement results (PASS/FAIL) in the worksheet.
● Determination of the measurement results
PASS..... If the artifacts can not be confirmed by visual check
No abnormalities in the stripes

∗ In some cases, lateral stripes can be

observed in patterns, however these
are not artifacts.
Ununiformity density cannot be
observed

No distorted and bent lines

FAIL....... In cases other than above ones

∗ When the determination of the measurement result is “FAIL”, start again from the procedure 1.
If the measurement result is still “FAIL”, increase the measurement frequency and confirm the
result. Furthermore, if “FAIL” is still measured often, contact our official dealer as appropriate.
