Concept/s:
Neoclassicism is the era of enlightenment preceded by the Renaissance
period. Neoclassicism started in the mid-18th century in Italy and France.
Neoclassical is an artistic style and movement which reflects the desire to return
to the arts of Greece and Rome which appeals harmony, clarity, restraint,
universality, and idealism (Britannica, 2018). Romantic period comes after the
Neoclassical period which appeared in Europe in the late 18th century to mid-
19th century. Romanticism, on the other hand, celebrated subjectivity, emotion
and imagination which pave way to search for individual rights and liberty.
The lesson focuses on the Neoclassical and Romantic art, architecture,
sculpture, painting, and decorative arts.
