Mentored Project
Borrowing Closet
As a Senior Project mentor, your final responsibility is to verify completion of your student’s work and to
pass his/her project. This is due by Thursday May 20, 2021. Mentors may write additional comments on
the back of this sheet
Comments: This process was very professionally handled, and it's been a joy to work with Jerlene!
2. Please list dates you have met with student:
Date: March 5, 2023 Reason for Meeting: To meet and discuss the ideas for her project.
Date: May 24, 2023 Reason for Meeting: To talk about the community project and how it developed.
Comments: In addition to the two meetings online, we corresponded pretty regularly on email, partly because I was
in France for nearly 3 weeks. I'm so impressed with Jerlene and her project!
3. How did the project stretch or challenge the student’s abilities? Please assess the quality of
the project. The project is outstanding - both in the written paper and the community project. It is no
small feat to put a borrowing closet together; this involved a lot of community outreach to secure the
donations, collect them from the donors (and hear their stories, which itself was part of the outreach),
and develop a system for the future life of the closet - including an online catalogue for borrowers after
Jerlene has graduated.
4. Please verify that your student spent at least 20 hours on the project: Yes x No
I'm sure it must have been quite a bit more.
