A. Course Description :

The course helps the students to acquire physical coordination, mental focus, and a deeper understanding of the music making process. Piano training is used as a venue for students to express
themselves beautifully through music, through the acquisition of: a solid piano technique, a beautiful tone production, knowledge of style, interpretation, pedaling, touch, and phrasing.

B. Course Objectives
The course aims to:

Knowledge
1. Interpret a given musical piece with regards to pitch, duration, volume, and tone color
2. Interpret a given musical piece with regards to its historical style and genre
3. Interpret the different forms of music
4. Decipher which technique and/or exercises are appropriate for certain types of music

Skills
1. Develop appropriate techniques with regards to sound (pitch, duration, volume and tone color)
2. Develop appropriate techniques for certain musical styles
3. Create a well informed and well-structured concert program
4. Perform a whole concert program

Values
1. Have patience and perseverance in learning new material.
2. Develop consistent work habits: organizing one’ stime and practice on a daily basis in order to prepare for weekly class performances.
