Start after a relaxed breakfast as there is not much distance to cover. After Sonamarg,
landscape gradually changes and as soon as you cross the Zojilla pass and go on the other side,
contrast will be clearly visible. The greens will give way to the brown and barren landscape of
Ladakh. Just as you descend from Zojilla, Ghumri War memorial awaits you. An isolated cafe run
by Indian Army is also here. An hour or so later, you will reach Drass a beautiful village town with
a small market. Just at the end of the town of Drass, there is Vijay War Memorial ( Kargil War
heroes ) ... On the way to Drass, you will notice all the check post that figured in the Kargil War
like Ghumri, Mushko Valley, Tiger Hill, Tololing ... Pay respect to the brave soldiers of Indian

IMP : Zozilla Pass is one way in May & Early June ... If you delay start you will be stuck in the

An interesting drive via the Batalik route to reach the Aryan Villages of Dah & Bheema.
Hamboting La is the highest point on this road. The road conditions are narrow on most sections
so your speed will be slow. From Batalik, Indus river will give you company right through till you
reach Aryan Valley. Check into the hotel and relax before heading to the village of Dah later

Plan the visit to the village of Dah in the evening as most women are out farming during the
evening. Quick directions, leave the main indus river and take a sharp U bend towards Dah
Village. As you climb up, soon you will cross a small bridge on the stream. Turn right on the dirt
July 6 5 road leading to the village. Park at a convenient place and start walking. Do not hesistate to talk 70 Kms, 3Hrs 1Hr, 4Hrs Kargil Bheema
to the locals. Start a conversation with the local ladies or men and get a peek into their lives.
Walk around the farms and enjoy the scenic beauty. There is a trail going along the farms and
you will have one of the most refreshing walks. Ask for pictures and the locals will be happy to
oblige.

Route : Kargil - Hamboting La - Batalik - Bheema


Imp. : Next Fuel Pump is at Khalsi, so have enough fuel in the SUV before proceeding

There is lots to see today so if you start early you can take as much halts on the way and spend
more time on the various spots. Start by 9 AM latest. The route first goes via many local villages
dotted with famrs and adorned with flower laden trees and shrubs. At Khangral you will join the
main Srinagar - Leh Highway. Enjoy the smooth wide and pictureque landscape on this route.
Soon you will ascend to Fotu La , Wide roads, roll down the windows and enjoy the drive. As you
descend from Fatu La you will encounter the beautiful landscape of Lamayuru. One of the oldest
monasteries is situated here. you can break our journey in Lamayuru and have tea/snacks. From
Lamayuru, you start our drive to Leh. At Nimmu there is confuence of Indus and Zanskar River.
This is followed by Magnetic Hill and then Gurudwara Pathar Sahib ( The Legend of carved

Monastery. You can give Shey palace a miss as it is nothing to talk about instead spend more
time at other locations . Sunset at Shanti Stupa is a must .. View from the terrace of Stok Palace
is really worth a million .... Cafe Cloud near Thicksey Monastery is a delightful place with
excellent food, must have your lunch here. After lunch you can have some rest at the hotel and
after rest you can enjoy the Hall of Fame ( near to Leh town ) which is an army memorial of all

Khardung La is the highest motorable road in the world at 18,500 ft. you will begin your ascend
to this acclaimed pass and take it slow .. The views around are incredible .. If you pay attention,
you can spot a frozen water fall too ...It can snow at anytime of the year in Khardung La, so if
you keep our fingers crossed, you can encounter fresh snow fall.Once you cross over then the
views are awesome. You can start after breakfast by 9 or 10 AM and have your lunch once we
reach Khardung Village, there is Mid Way resort there with nice meal options. If you like to eat
local food, then there is a small dhabha on the right side of the road where locals eat. There is a
beautiful Giant Budha statue just as we aproach Diskit, you must visit it. But you must make it to
July 9 8 a point to reach the sand dunes before the sun sets there. It is absolutely divine to walk on the 125Kms, 4Hrs 3Hrs, 7Hrs Leh Nubra
sand dunes in the evening. Walk for few minutes from the parking area and find your own private
Sand Dune and enjoy the rest of the evening there amidst the serenity.

IMP : Permit is also required for visiting Nubra / Pangong
IMP : On a clear day in July and Aug, the Sun Rays are pretty strong in the afternoon. Kindly
plan in such a way that you reach Diskit / Hunder only by 4 PM

A 90km journey to Turtuk makes a great day-trip. It’s a really beautiful drive, the road runs by the
awesome river valley for much of the way with occasional detours through great boulder fields.
there are several scattered villages and you'll notice a clear transformation from the mainly
Buddhist Nubra heartland around Diskit to an overwhelmingly Muslim culture towards Turtuk.
Locals here speak Balti just as they do in the adjoining Pakistani Baltistan. Several villages stand

Pangong Lake changes colour based on Sun. Enjoy the lake and its hues at different times of
the day. Its deep blue when you witness it when the sun is shining brightly on it. And changes
colour with sunrise and sunset. Every shade of Pangong is breath taking. The night sky is also
brilliant especially late in the night. If you can, wake up in the middle of the night and watch the

July 14 13 Do Nothing Day in Leh, Just unwind and Chill - Leh Leh
Start early morning ( Latest 7 AM ) as you will experience the dramatic Leh Manali Highway .
The route will take us through Tanglung La, Debring and into Moreh Plains. Moreh Plains is
incredibly beautiful with over 50 kms of flat land at 14,000 ft is beyond imagination ...Just as you
cross Moreh Plains, you will descend into Pang ( characterized by clusters of Dhabha ) You can
have a tea break here .. Just you begin the ride from Pang, you will enter the sculpted gorges
which is then followed by ascend to Lachung La, Nakee La. Once you cross the two passes you
will encouter the famous Gata Loops, a 21 hair pin bends descending into plains of Sarchu.
July 15 14 Numerous photo opportunities will exist on this day ... As soon as you cross Sarchu and reach
Bharatpur you will start you climb for BarachaLa, a high altitude pass at 16,500 ft .. you shall
also see 2 serene glacial lakes ( Deepak Tal, after Patsio ) and Suraj Tal is few kms after Bara-
lacha La. Enjoy the last of the wild roads as you head back into civilization at Jispa and beyond

Route: Leh - Upshi - Tanglung La – Debring – Moreh Plains – Pang – Lachung La - Nakee
La - Gata Loops - Sarchu – Baralacha La – Suraj Tal - Deepak Tal - Zing Zing Bar – Darcha

From Jispa you can have a relaxed start as it is a short ride today. Jispa lies in Lahaul Valley and
you will notice vegetation & trees make their appearance in lahaul. The dry barren landscape of
Ladakh is now behind you. The final ascend is to Rohtang Pass, which is our last of the high
altitude passes before you descend into Manali. Break for tea at Koksar and then have a bite at
Marhi

You can also take the new Atal Tunnel shortly after Sissu and have a smooth drive all the way to

"Manali to Chandigarh is mostly hill drive. From Barmana to Kiratpur is painful due to ACC
cement factory and truck movement. Apart from this 80 kms stretch, rest of the highway is fine.
Till June End, leave early as there are traffic snarls caused due to heavy tourish rush. From July
July 18 17 onwards, you can have a relaxed start. 312 Kms, 8 Hours 2hrs, 10hrs Manali Chandigarh
Just before Mandi, Visco resort (vegetarian) is a good place to halt. You can also stop at
Bilaspur, Hotel Panchvati for Lunch, the indian food is a good. Just before Chandigarh, the
famous Haveli is a good stop too. "
Smooth Drive to Delhi from Chandigarh, mostly a 4 lane highway. If you are planning to go to
Airport direclty then please add 1 hr more to cross Delhi. Also, do keep in mind that office traffic

is at its peak in the evening and this can add more time, so avoid evening traffic time and plan to
reach in Delhi by 4 or 5 PM latest
