The Barangay Assembly Day started at 8:30 am.

The arrival of participants


was facilitated by the Barangay Secretary Ms. Marjorie Encarnacion, the Barangay
Treasurer, Cleo O. Ong and the Barangay Civil Security Officer Robert Joseph
Pajaron. The Barangay Secretary is the official emcee of the program.

The program proper was opened with a prayer led by Mrs. Alexandra
Omega, Ugnayan ng Barangay at Simbahan (UBAS) Representative. It was
followed by the singing of the National Anthem led by the Barangay Secretary and
the Palompon Hymn. 

The opening remark was made by no other than the Punong Barangay Hon.
Ian Jay L. Arevalo. The Punong Barangay welcomes the guest, Barangay Elected
and Appointed Officials, NGO’s, and concerned citizens of the Barangay. He
encouraged the constituents to be more responsive in their participation in the
Barangay activities.

After the opening remark, this was followed by the guest’s message none
other than our beloved Vice-Mayor of Palompon, Hon. Vice-Mayor Myra
Georgina L. Arevalo and the reading of SILG’s message, Usec. Eduardo M. Ano,
to the Barangay for the 2nd Semester of CY 2018 Barangay Assembly Day.

Before the Barangay Assembly Day Proper started, all Barangay Elected and
Appointed Officials introduced their selves and their roles in the Barangay for
them to be known in the community.

After the introductions of Barangay Officials, the Barangay Assembly


Proper started by conferring the Punong Barangay’s State of Barangay Address
(SOBA). He discussed about the update of Programs and Projects of the Barangay
and the newly enacted Barangay ordinances. He also emphasized the Barangay
Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) and its purpose to the Barangay to stop the
use of illegal drugs and report the person who uses and sells illegal drugs. He also
discussed about the Barangay Full Disclosure Board in which the
citizens/community would know about the financial status of the Barangay.

The Punong Barangay’s SOBA was followed by reporting on Barangay


properties and money accountabilities turn-over by previous barangay officials by
the Barangay Treasurer, Cleo O. Ong. This was also followed by reporting of the
Organization of Barangay-based Institutions like Barangay Development Council
(BDC), Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (BDRRMC),
Barangay Peace and Order Council (BPOC), Barangay Ecological Solid Waste
Management Council (BESWMC) and Violence Against Women (VAW) Desk.

The Committee on Peace and Order followed the reporting represented by


the the Peace and Order Chairman Kagawad Arturo B. Vivero. Kagawad Vivero
succinctly reported the Drug Raid that happened last September and also the
assigning and instructing of Tanods, with the coordination of Barangay Chief
Tanod Chris Evert C. Dignos, to be more vigilant and be active in the barangay’s
sorroundings. In addition, Kagawad Vivero assured the constituents that the
Barangay is generally peaceful and that their doing their best to preserve peace and
order.
Kagawad Maximo S. Gorumba, Chairman on Solid Waste Management took
the next turn of the reporting. In his report, he emphasized the segregation of waste
disposal. This was followed by Brgy. Chief Tanod, Chris Evert C. Dignos, who’s
also the Chairman of Disaster Preparedness. He announced that there will be a
scheduled seminar on Disaster Risk Reduction Management in the Barangay on
October 22-24, 2018, next week.

After all the reporting, there has been an opening forum facilitated by the
Barangay Secretary.

When the open forum was done, the program was formally closed by
Kagawad Gilbert R. Pintoy with his closing remarks in which he gave thanks and
appreciation to the people who attended and allotted their time to witness and be
part of the 2nd Semester of CY 2018 Barangay Assembly Day.
