DESCRIPTION
Polyfoam SS 45 is a two-component, spray-applied polyurethane
foam that creates a seamless, monolithic barrier against water
vapor and air. Polyfoam SS 45 is an HCFC blown & CFC free,
polymeric M.D.I based system for producing rigid urethane foam
with a nominal applied density of 45 kg/m3 by spray process.
The system may be applied to substrates where the surface
temperature is of the order of 25 - 30°C. Grades, adjusted in
reactivity, are available for both cold and hot condition. 1

• All materials whether loose or on pallets have to be stored in a covered area and protected from UV
and sunlight. Deterioration of the product may be caused due to improper storage and at high
temperatures.
• Applications should be avoided in case of extreme weather conditions like sand storm or rain.
• The ambient temperature during application should be between 25°C and 55°C.
The following Equipment’s are required during application:
Protective clothing:
Gloves, face mask, overalls, and safety goggles
Application equipment’s:
 PU Foam spray system
 Brush /roller
 Steel scrapper
 Cotton waste

 Cutting knife

SECTION II: APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

Surface Preparation:

The surface should be free of any cement laitance, oil, grease, curing compound and any other
deleterious materials.
Light mechanical grinding / grit blasting / high pressure water jet may be used to clean the surface
to be coated, based on the degree of contamination.
Nail heads and other protrusions must be removed or ground.
Structurally unsound and friable concrete must be removed and repaired. Honey combed or spalled
concrete, surface irregularities, blow holes to be repaired with a suitable POLYCRETE concrete
repair mortar.
Covering the parapet wall and other utilities fixed on the roof to avoid the risk of overspray.

SECTION III: METHOD OF APPLICATIONS

Polyfoam SS 45

Sprayed Polyfoam SS 45 is a combination of isocyanate and polyol. These two components feed
through a proportioner, heats & pumps two separate components to the spray gun, where they mixed
and sprayed in to the substrate. Sprayed to the roof as a liquid and forms a single continuous structure
which is seamless and very stable.
Mixing method: Machine mixing
Mixing ratio: 1Polyol :1MDI (by volume)

Adjust the mix ratio 1:1 (by volume) of polyol and MDI, spray to the designated areas by using the
machine. We recommend spraying each layer with 1cm thickness to maintain adequate properties of
the foam.
A protective elastomeric topcoat is required which may be applied by brush, roller or squeegee.

8.2. Exposure controls:

Respiratory protection:
Suitable breathing mask when there is inadequate ventilation.
Combination filter: ABEKP (EN 14387)
This recommendation should be matched to local conditions.
SDS No.: 563844 V001.1 POLYFOAM MDI (250KG/DRUM) Page 9 of 14

Hand protection:
In the case of longer contact protective gloves made from nitrile rubber are recommended according to EN 374.
Perforation time > 60 minutes
material thickness > 0.1 mm
In the case of longer and repeated contact please note that in practice the penetration times may be considerably shorter than
those determined according to EN 374. The protective gloves must always be checked for their suitability for use at the
specific workplace (e.g. mechanical and thermal stress, product compatibility, antistatic effects, etc.). The gloves must be
replaced immediately at the first signs of wear and tear. The information provided by the manufacturers and given in the
relevant trade association regulations for industrial safety must always be observed. We recommend that a hand care plan is
drawn up in cooperation with a glove manufacturer and the trade association in accordance with the local operating
conditions.

Eye protection:
Goggles which can be tightly sealed.
Protective eye equipment should conform to EN166.

Skin protection:
Suitable protective clothing
Protective clothing should conform to EN 14605 for liquid splashes or to EN 13982 for dusts.

Advices to personal protection equipment:

The information provided on personal protective equipment is for guidance purposes only. A full risk assessment should be
conducted prior to using this product to determine the appropriate personal protective equipment to suit local conditions.
Personal protective equipment should conform to the relevant EN standard.

8.2. Exposure controls:

Respiratory protection:
The product should only be used at workplaces with intensive ventilation/extraction. If intensive ventilation/extraction is not
possible then self-contained independent respiratory protection should be worn.
Safety Data Sheet according to (EC) No 1907/2006 as amended

SDS No.: 574627 V002.0 POLYFOAM SS-45 Page 8 of 16

Hand protection:
Recommended are gloves made from Nitril rubber ( M aterial thickness >0,1 mm, Perforation time < 30s).Gloves should be
replaced after each short time contact or contamination. Available at laboratory specialized trade or at pharmacies / chemist 's
shops.
In the case of longer contact protective gloves made from nitrile rubber are recommended according to EN 374.
Perforation time > 30 minutes
material thickness > 0.4 mm
