Republic of the Philippines QUEZON CITY COUNCIL Quezon City 16° City Council 39% Regulas Session ORDINANCE No. sP-157% “is-2005 (PO2005- 195) AN ORDINANCE RENAMING THE CENTRAL POLICE DISTRICT (CPD) TO QUEZON CITY POLICE DISTRICT {QCPD). Introduced by Councilors EDCEL B, LAGMAN, JR., ELIZABETH A. DELARMENTE, VICTOR V. FERRER, JR., WINSTON “Winnie” T, CASTELO, DANTE M. DE GUZMAN, ANTONIO E. INTON, JR., ALMA PF, MONTILLA, JANET M. MALAYA, BAYANI V. HIPOL and XYRUS L. LANOT. WHEREAS, the Quezon City Police Department caine into existence by virtue of Commonwealth Act. No. 502 otherwise known as the Charter of Quezon City on 12 October 1939; WHEREAS, it has been the unanimous desire of the present police of the Central Police District to rename said police force to Quezon. City Police District in order to give said police force full and distinct identity ae the “Pride of Quezon Gity’ and in accordance with its original denomination under Commonwealth Act No, 502; WHEREAS, the history of the Quezon City Police Force would readily reveal its noble quest and commitment to have an identity of its own to truly professtonalize its role in ensuring the peace and maintaining order on behalf of its raison de’etre — the residents of Quezon City; WHEREAS, on 21 March 1974, by virtue of Presidential Decree No. 421, the police, fire and jail forces in Metropolitan Manila were integrated into one command, which was then Known as the Metropolitan Police Force, during this period, the Quezon City Police Department became part of the Northern Police District, together with the forces from Kalookan City, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela and San Juan; g Ss eT Sa ear TB 9-dbos Page -2- PO2005-195 WHEREAS, it is only fitting and proper to give our great city’s police force the distinct identity that it deserves and distinguish it from the other Metropolitan Manila Police Forces now that the Central Police Diatrict (CPD) is fully autonomous from the other police forces in Metropolitan Manila; WHEREAS, the renaming of the Central Police District (CPD) to the more apptopriate “Quezon City Police District” {QCPD) is by no means a cosmetic measure aa our city’s police force has taken great strides in improving the quality of ite services to the people of Quezon City and has earned by reason of ite truly professional character its own identity from the other local government police forces. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF QUEZON CITY IN REGULAR SESSION ASSEMBLED: SECTION 1. The Central Police Dietrict (CPC) is hereby authorized to be renamed to Quezon City Police District (QCPD) in accordance with its applicable and established rules of procedure and pursuant to its internal rules and regulations. SECTION 2. IMPLEMENTATION.- The Central Police District (CPD) shail furnish the Quezon City Council with a copy of its internal circular/memorandum/instruction/resolution, as the case may be, stating in essence that it has renamed the Central Police District (CPD) to Quezon City Police District (QCPD) within five (5) working days from its issuance. 89% Regular Session Ord. EFFECTIVITY CLAUSE.- This ordinance shall take effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in at least two (2} newspapers of general circulation in Quezon City.
