COURSE DESCRIPTION

A jewellery designer is someone who creates designs for various types of jewellery
such as necklaces, earrings, etc. They use their artistic skills and knowledge of materials
and techniques to create unique pieces of jewellery. Jewellery designers typically start by
sketching their own ideas on paper, selecting materials and determining how the piece will
be constructed. As a jewellery designer, you would be responsible for designing pieces that
are both aesthetically pleasing and functional.

Initial work includes making drawings of generic jewellery designs using basic
stationery and measuring tools. They creates various 2D designs and views of jewellery for
client presentation, such as mood boards or inspiration boards. These drawings are then
beautifully hand rendered using various mediums for illustration such as watercolour,
pencils, markers etc.

Jewellery Designer should have the skills and knowledge to develop design briefs
and manage the development of design concepts for commercial production. The initial
process includes conducting market research and doing trend forecasting for the particular
time and identifying a theme for the collection.
