CRITIQUE OF JEFFREY DAHMER

Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer also known as Milwaukee cannibal; at his early childhood
life he seemed like an ordinary child until the age of six when his mother gave birth to his
brother. This is where he started to lack self- confidence, he isolated himself from other
people and became anti- social. By age ten, Dahmer became fascinated with all things
related to death and started collecting and stripping the carcasses of dead animals. During
his teenage life, those around Dahmer noticed some distressing changes occurring within
him and seen him as desperate and lonely by his classmates. By the time Dahmer was in
high school he began to drink heavily at school, often hides beer in his jacket. Dahmer
also realize that he began to regularly fantasize having sex with men. Just after he
graduated high school in the same year his parents got divorced and his mother gained
custody of his younger brother while his father moved out leaving him alone in their
house. At the age of 18 years old his fantasies had begun, while alone in his house,
Dahmer committed his first murder then later buried the remains in his backyard. Weeks
after the murder Dahmer father moved back with him. Dahmer attended college that fall
but dropped out due to alcoholism. After that, his father forced him to enlist in the Army.
However, after two years he never kicked the habit drinking and he was discharge in the
Army. After his drinking continued to cause problems, his father sent him to live with his
grandmother. Jeffrey Dahmer’s violence continued. He committed numerous sex crimes
including masturbating in front of children and drugging and raping men at gay
bathhouses.

In the case of Dahmer, it seems that the problem he encountered was because
growing up he was neglected as a child and neither parent paid any attention to him.
Based on my research, her mother suffered from multiple mental illnesses which he
inherited from her mother. In his teenage years, his fascination would dissect dead
animals and store the body parts in a Jars, his curiosity about animal’s dead bodies
eventually did do later on the life with human life, this turned Dahmer to develop, violent
impulses and the homosexual activities he experienced has took the lives of 17 males.
