NAMASTE!

I am John Lloyd G. Baltazar, the President of India. Today, it is my honor to deliver a speech on poverty in
our country and how we can address this issue.

We can’t deny the fact that India is one of the developing countries. Its economy is growing day by day,
but poverty is not decreasing. The poverty rate in India has always been there. Statistics are published on
it every year, and each time the percentage either increases or decreases but doesn’t completely end.
It’s a huge challenge for us, and it cannot easily be eradicated.

Poverty is a worse situation that represents poor quality of life, rising illiteracy and malnutrition, a lack of
basic and essential elements of living, a lower development of the human resource, and others. This is a
more significant challenge, significantly hindering the growth of developing nations like India. In addition,
poverty is a phenomenon in which a segment of society does not have access to meeting the basic needs
of life and has a healthier life. The experts also observe that the poverty level is still declining since
India’s last five years, reaching 26.1% to 35.97%.

Several issues arise due to the higher poverty rate in India. Illiteracy increases with poverty as people
cannot access proper education and get learning resources due to a lack of money. Poverty also leads to
rising malnutrition as poor people are unable to afford a proper two-time meal and get a nutritious diet
to stay healthy. In turn, this leads to increasing illnesses and diseases that also remain uncured because
of a lack of medical aid. Due to poverty, families have a lower income that is unable to meet their needs,
and thus the children are also forced into child labor to meet the demands.

More so, unemployment is a significant cause of poverty in our country, as it leads to a shortage of
money and affects the daily lives of the people. It also forces people to work against their will in harmful
conditions. Poverty leads to social stress due to the inequality in income between the rich and the poor.
This also creates a worse issue for people, as they have to stay out of their homes on roadways,
sidewalks, and open spaces without any shelter. Poverty is a worse issue that affects people of all
demographics and age groups in adverse ways, causing severe losses and stress for them. This is a
concerning factor, and only the government of India can come up with practical ways to reduce the
poverty rate.

For controlling poverty in India, the government has specific measures to solve the issue and ensure a
better lifestyle for all the people staying there. The government gives the farmers proper and necessary
access to facilities for better agriculture. The illiterate people have adequate access to education and
training with the help of the government to understand several aspects of a better life. Furthermore, the
government had implemented training for family planning and sex education for population control. At
last, the government must ensure that every child must go to school, and there must also be new
employment opportunities for all types of people.

Poverty is not only a problem in India; it is a broader issue for the entire nation and the planet. This is a
significant threat to human resource development and must be taken care of on a priority basis. People
must consider essential and effective measures to control the poverty rate. We must work together to
eradicate and end poverty.
