▪ Sex is a natural distinguishing variable based on the biological characteristics of a man or a woman.

It refers to the
physical attributes pertaining to a person’s body contours, features, genitals, hormones, genes, chromosomes, and
reproductive organs.
▪ Gender refers to the socially constructed characteristics of women and men—such as norms, roles, and relationships
of and between women and men. It varies from society to society and can change over time. It is important to be
sensitive to different identities that do not necessarily fit into binary male or female sex categories.
▪ Human Sexuality Is the way people experience and express themselves sexually (Cavendish, 2010; Ferrante, 2014) that
usually involves the biological, erotic, physical, emotional, social, or spiritual and behaviors (Greenberg, et al, 2016; Bolin
& Whelehan, 2009). Sexuality also affects and is affected by cultural, political, legal, philosophical, moral, ethical, and
religious aspects of life (Greenberg, et al, 2016; Bolin & Whelehan, 2009)

TYPES OF ATTRACTION
 Platonic Attraction- a desire for a platonic relationship or friendship with a specific individual
 Sexual Attraction- a desire for sexual contact (however you define it) with specific individual
 Aesthetic Attraction- an appreciation for someone’s physical appearance and an intense desire to look at them
 Romantic Attraction- a desire for a romantic relationship (however you define it) with a specific individual
 Sensual Attraction- a desire for sexual intimacy with a specific individual like cuddling hand holding etc.
 Alterous Attraction- attraction that are not wholly romantic or platonic which involve having a deep , emotional
closeness and connection with someone in a ways dominant culture would consider to be more than typical for
friendships, but is not the same as romantic.
