I have been Trystan's big friend for 2 years. We are a perfect match for each other, and being her big friend has changed my life. Trystan and I are very different and this opens the door for us to learn from each other. I wanted to be a Big Friend because I understand the struggles that come with growing up. I wanted to be a support and a good influence for someone. I did not expect my little friend to influence me as much as Trystan has. She encourages me, and helps me out when she can. I am priviledged to do the same for her. She is fifteen years old now, and I think she is smart, strong, and determined. When Trystan sets a goal, she accomplishes it. She is determined to make a difference in this world, starting with her. The time I get to spend with her is very special. We like to try new things together from cooking in the kitchen to camping in the wilderness. Our time spent together is about having fun, relaxing, and having the opportunity to be open and honest about what is going on in our lives. Our relationship is built upon trust, but the trust was not built overnight. I have learned a lot about relationship from being a Big Friend. I plan on continuing to be a part of Trystan's life and I am excited to be there for her as she grows up.
Calendar of Events: Oct 20th Pumpking Carving Dec. 1st Christmas Party.

Trystan: When Abbey and I met I really didnt think that we would bond because we came-

from two seperate worlds, But me and abbey have really grown! I mean next weekend I am going to be in her wedding! She has really became part of my life! She is pratically family. Everyone in my family knows and loves her. She has been so helpful the whole time that I have know her! She is always there. She has been there through so much. She was there for me in good times and bad! I wouldnt want to have any other Big Friend in the world! We have got to know each other so much because she has gained my trust and respect. it is really hard to gain my trust and Abbey has gained it and has never broke it. She is like the sister I never had! I love her so much!

Volunteers to help carve pumpkins at FF

Looking for Volunteers or Mentors to help with the October Fun Function. We will be helping the kids carve pumpkins. They will trace and draw the illustration on the pumpkin and we need adult volunteers or our mentors to come and help carve out the pumpkin. They will be gutting and hopefully doing most of the work. But a little help with the carving would be great. If you are able to help, please call my office at 665-6365.

Character Counts Scavenger Hunt

An awesome job done by all at the Scavenger Hunt. All Big and Littles were split into 6 groups for the 6 Pillars of Character and went around town for an hour to complete 10 tasks that fit into their Pillar. When we all joined back and shared what we had done, I was so proud of their ideas, from visiting a cancer survivor, thanking a police officer and EMS for what they do, to pushing carts at Hy Vee for people and putting their groceries away in their vehicles. There were so many more . The youth embraced this adventure. It is hard to complete some tasks, especially if you are very shy. But all participated. Huge Big Friend Little Friend Clap for you!!
