Directions: Solve the following items.
1. The scores of the 8 students in an English quiz are as follows: 20, 21, 25, 25, 16, 26, 28,
and 30. Determine the median score.
Solution:

16, 20, 21, 25, 25, 26, 28, 30
*The median is the average of the 4th and the 5th scores.
= 25
Answer: 25

2. Find the median of the following: 15, 13, 15, 14, 16, 13, 13, 14, 12, 15, 10
Solution:
15, 13, 15, 14, 16, 13, 13, 14, 12, 15, 10
10, 12, 13, 13, 13, 14, 14, 15, 15, 15, 16

*Value of 7th term = 14
*Hence, the Median is 14.

Solution:

*The median is the middle value, which is 4
Answer: 4

4. Find x if 15, 12, 11, x + 6, 7, 5, 4 are in order and their median is 10.
Solution:
15, 12, 11, x + 6, 7, 5, 4
(7+1)
10 = 2

10 = x + 6
10 – 6 = 4

Answer: 4
 5. Find x if 8, 10, x – 1, x + 3, 17, 19 are in order and their median is 14.
Solution:
(𝑥−1+𝑥+3)
14 = 2

14 = 2
14 * 2 = 2x + 2
28 – 2 = 2x
