Safety
. The manufacturer has designed this equipment to be safe when operated
using the procedures detailed in this manual. The user must not use this
equipment for any other purpose than that stated. Do not apply values
greater than the maximum value stated.
Maintenance
# The equipment must be maintained using the manufacturers procedures
and should be carried out by authorized service agents or the
manufacturers service departments.
Important Note
In each section, illustrations of the key press and screen display sequences
describe how to carry out a procedure or setting. The screen displays shown
throughout this manual must be considered as typical examples of many possible
display messages and configurations. These examples must not be considered
as definitive.

DPI 280/281
Note:
The DPI 280/281 and 282/283 contain different InPUt

The input configuration and operating mode is selected through
five sub-menus:
InPLO Low input setting
InPHI High input setting
dSPLO Low display reading
dSPHI High display reading
ACAL Automatic calibration
DPI 282/283
The input type and conditioning is selected by four sub-menus:
dCLO Low level voltage input
dCHI High level voltage input
I dc Current input
tHEr Thermometer function
EdCLO
Selects the input configuration to accept input voltages
from 0 to 20 mV FS to 0 to 2 V FS.
Four parameters are available:
InPLO Low input setting
InPHI High input setting
dSPLO Low display reading
dSPHI High display reading
These parameters define two calibration point defining
the operating range
(e.g., InPLO = 5.40 mV, InPHI = 18.60 mV, dSPLO =
100.0, dSPHI = 500.0).
EdCHI
Selects the input configuration to accept input voltages
from 0 to 2 V FS up to 0 to 20 V FS.
Four parameters are available:
InPLO Low input setting
InPHI High input setting
dSPLO Low display reading
dSPHI High display reading
These parameters define two calibration points defining
the operating range
(e.g., InPLO = 1.400 V, InPHI = 12.600 V, dSPLO = 1500,
dSPHI = 14500).

the selections are:

19.999
199.99
1999.9
Note:
dECPO affects the display format high and low parameters
set in InPUt.
LStbk
When a digital representation of the input, lower than 2000
count is required, with high stability, the last digit may be
blanked. The calibration is performed at the full instrument
capability (20000 count) but the display shows the reading with
the last digit blanked up to 2000 counts. The two selections
are:
19999 Normal operation
1999 Last digit blanked
OVEr
When an input limit is required, this function sets the upper
limit. As soon as the input exceeds the upper limit the display
flashes. The upper limit may be set over the full reading range.
UndEr
This function sets a lower limit for the input. When the input
becomes lower than the limit, the display flashes. The lower
limit may be set over the full reading range.
t AVG
Sets the limit of the averaged reading value (from 0 up to 20999
counts); this is a ±limit set on the average value (e.g. if the
average value is 1000 and the limit is 50 any value between
950 and 1050 is accepted).
The average AVG is the displayed reading only if each reading is
within the ± limit tAVG. If one reading in the nAVG is greater
than the limit set (tAVG) the reading is displayed and the
averaged reading value is ignored.

Each input can operate more than one function at time: setting
the correct code as a sum of individual codes any input may be
programmed for more functions (e.g. to use ext. input #1 to:
reset peak #1, reset peak #2, reset alarms, set EIn 1 = 2+4+8
or 14).
dLy
Defines the time the peak must be higher (or lower) than the
last stored value to trigger the detector.
The operating function sets the logic used by the two detectors,
the capture delay sets an interval to validate the peak capture.
This function can be set to the dynamics of a system; fast
peaks like a peak current derived by the start-up of an electric
motor can be skipped by increasing the delay time so that the
peak of the mean energy consumption is captured instead of
the instantaneous peak.
SOUrC
Selects the following commands:
GrOSS Gross
nEt Nett
nEtrS Net that automatically resets peak #1 and #2 when
auto-zero command operates.
SOUrC
Selects the internal variable generating an analogue output:
rEAd Controlled by the main reading on the
display.
nEt Controlled by the nett value.
PEAk1 Follows the value captured by the peak
detector #1.
PEAk2 Follows the value captured by the peak
detector #2.
GrOSS Gross
nEtF Net before average and integration function.
GrSF Gross before average and integration
function.
UnLIn When selected, the output follows the value
obtained by the input convertor, with linear
sensors (T/C or RTD) this value is processed
before the linearization table.
An Lo
Defines the lowest calibration point of the analogue output and
can be set between 0.000 and 20.400 mA.
An HI
Defines the highest calibration point of the analogue output and
can be set between 0.000 and 20.400 mA.
SEtLo
Defines the reading (or input value for non-linear input)
corresponding to the lowest calibration point of the output and
can be set between -19999 and 20999 counts.
Note:
The parameters controlling the serial output only change
on reset. This prevents a parameter change during
communication with the control computer. After a
change to the serial output settings the system must be
reset to start with the new configuration.
Printing
The printed variable is the same selected for analogue output
(refer to AnOUT, SErOU menu for correct settings).
Continuous printing has the start operation time corresponding
to the reading frequency set by parameter tCnV in the AdC
menu. Single printout is enabled by pressing AL2, continuous
printing is enabled/disabled by pressing AL2. Single printout is
enabled at every contact closure of the external input EIn2,
continuous printing is started by the external input contact
closure and stopped by the contact opening.
PASS (password)
A password protection of the set-up data is available. The
password may be set to any value between 1 and 9999, while a
value of 0000 disables the function. When the password is
active the user is requested to enter the correct value before
entering the set-up function.
Note:
A PIN number, for the DPI 284/285, of 1234 (set at
manufacture) protects the integral transducer calibration
settings. Changing these settings could invalidate the
instrument's calibration.
FInE
Enables the zero correction when locking is active, without
storing the new parameter in nonvolatile memory.
OFF Zero correction disabled
ON Zero correction enabled
tArE
Enables the storing of the tare value in nonvolatile memory at
every auto-zero. When powered up again the instrument, with
this function enabled, uses the previously stored tare value.
