“SELECT AND USE ICT TOOLS FOR TEACHING AND LEARNING”

LESSON OBJECTIVES:

At the end of this lesson you are expected to:

1. Identify the different ICT tools use for teaching and learning.
2. Know the different functions of the ICT tools.
3. Know the benefits of using ICT tools in teaching and learning and how it will help you as a
future teacher.

INTRODUCTION:

What is stands for ICT? What are the ICT tools use for teaching and learning? What does Goerge
Couros mean “Technology will never replace great teachers, but technology in the hands of a
great teachers in transnational.”
The current learning system employ technologies by integrating ICT tools and
applications in education and instruction. ICT stands for Information and Communication
Technologies. It refers to the various tools and devices or gadgets use for communicating,
disseminating, creating, storing and managing information. It is important for us as future
teachers to be able to maximize and utilize the use of different technologies in teaching and
learning. Being able to use the different technologies in teaching will help us understand how to
use this tool at the same time helping our future learners in their learning.
The use of ICT tools in teaching and learning will widen the range of the teaching and
learning process. This will also provide a lot of possibilities on how the learners and teachers
can do something with what they know to become a good productive citizen.
DISCUSSION:

ICT stands for Information and Communication Technologies. It refers to the various tools and
devices or gadgets use for communicating, disseminating, creating, storing and managing
information.
Some examples of digital tools and how can we integrate it in our
lesson.

A. Using Mobile Phone and the QR Code

- QR code stands for “Quick Response”.
- it is a code created by a Japanese Corporation Denso-Wave in
1994. It connects the physical world to the electronic world.
- it allows the readers to decode the information at a high-rate
speed. This is popular in Japan and it used by companies it is attach
in their products.
How will QR code help us in teaching and learning?

Create Interactive and Engaging Content
You can enrich the content of you teach in
the class by using QR codes that link to other
readings and resources. You can link to a pdf
video production, a website, a document, or
an audio file among others.
Share Resources
learners can use QR codes to share
educational resources with each other (e.g.
lecture notes, web content, how-to-do-
videos.
Use in the Classroom Activity
QR code can be use in giving instructions in
class and pin them inside the classroom
instead of providing them thick copies of
printed materials giving instruction on how to
do an activity.
Provide Help with Homework
A detailed instruction can be made into a QR
code which students can scan at home and
use the information to help them comply
with their assignment.
Communicate with Parents or Partners
You can share information to parents on
school events or activities in school. You can
also put it in a webpage for parents and
partners to get information. However, be
sure to orient the parents on how to use QR
codes.
Scavenger Hunts
Create an interactive classroom activity such
as scavenger hunt by using QR codes that
provide direction or instructions resulting in a
better learner engagement.
Enhance Classroom Library
Create QR codes of students’ brief write-ups
about why they enjoy their book and put the
right in or on the books in the class library.
Student can use this QR codes to find out
more about the books.
Gather Students Feedback
You can create surveys, polls, and using
google form and share them with students as
a QR codes which can be easily scanned and
access.
Research Project
Makes students create QR codes linking
other resources and web content to their
research work.
Provides easy access to the Online
Create QR codes with URLs for the students
to gain easy access to online resources.
Sometimes when a long URL is given, learners
may copy a broken URL version hence,
resources become inaccessible.
B. Using Laptop and the Infographics
- infographics is a visual representation or an
image such as diagram, chart or picture
representing information or data.
- it is use for marketing information and ideas of
teaching and learning process.
- tool “canvas” is one of the media that can be
use to create infographics.

Ways of using infographics:

1. To present survey data.
2. To simplify a complex concept.
3. To explain on how something functions.
4. To compare.
5. To present interesting pacts.

C. Ipad / Tablet and the online bulletin board

- online bulletin board is a visual representation
of news and ideas through the use of tablet or
Ipad.
- it is a way of presenting ideas with a twist and
interest with no cost at all.
- it will stimulate the students thinking as well as
captures the students work and ideas.
- it will expose the students important skill,
strategies and concepts.
