OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to;
a) Discern the meaning of the title of the story;
b) Define some unfamiliar words in the story;
c) Discuss the theme of the story;
d) Perform a 15 minutes role play.

MATERIALS

Copy of the story


Pictures

PRE-READING
1. Teacher will show a cover design including the title of the story to the students. Then the teacher
asks what does the picture indicates and what does the title means?

FRESH FRUIT
a. Teacher will let the students figure out why does the story entitled “Fresh Fruit”.

2. Teacher will discuss brief information about the author.


3. Before the students begin to read the story, teacher will define some unfamiliar words in the story.

a. Morbid
b. Assertive
c. Tersely
d. Ludicrous
e. Stricken
f. Scoured
g. Dreary

READING AND DISCUSSION


A. Teacher distributes the copy of the story, and then allows the students to read for take home.
B. Teacher also give worksheet 1 (Maintaining Momentum)

Direction: As you have read the story, choose the moral which you think most appropriate in the story. If
none seems suitable to you, write one of your own. Justify your choice.

POST READING
Group the class into three to perform a 15 minutes role play each group.

1. The group members will choose their favorite highlights from the story, and then they will be
going to present it in the class.
