Zoo

In the year 1974, a small zoo owned by the Dominican Fathers was created, the same one that
was operating in the upper part of the convent, the zoo consisted of the exhibition of a small
group of birds and mammals. The new eco-zoo in the San Martín sector is where we are today.
At Zoo Vida Exótica, we exhibit a large part of the Ecuadorian Fauna and Exotic Animals, in our
establishment we have around 30 - 35 species, each one has been transferred by the Ministry
of the Environment, with its respective certificate and registration chip.

We have the privilege of having a family of AFRICAN LIONS: The King of the Jungle named
Amaru, a Lioness named Santa and her two cubs Sheyla and Keisha, 3 years old.

You can see animals from different geographical areas of Ecuador but more especially native
animals such as tapirs, condors, parrots, parrots, peccaries and other very important species of
our local fauna.

The San Martín Eco Zoo has been developing various conservation and environmental
education programs in rural and urban communities, as well as in the buffer zones of natural
parks.

near the thermal baths of the Virgin for which it bears its name and near the Hotel Sangay. Its
crystalline waters flow from Cerro Bellavista, forming a kind of hair.

Baños has been privileged with many of these religious manifestations

; Thus, in the center of the city of Baños you can see a majestic waterfall in the shape of a hair
better known as Cascada de la Virgen, in view of the fact that the ancient inhabitants of the
canton claimed that the Mother of God bathed in these waters for the dawn.

According to legend, settlers and muleteers, when passing through that site, an Angel
appeared to give them strength and will and thus reach their destination. Today it constitutes
a sacred center for this community. It has a height of 50 meters, where you can see the
waterfall giving the appearance of "El Manto de la Virgen"
