and invert-emulsion fluids. These agents are used to increase or decrease the alkalinity of the drilling fluid. These alkalinity agents
provide fluid stability and improve the polymer hydration and performance with a treatment to out contaminants like cement, hardness,
H2S, and carbon dioxide encountered in fluids while drilling.
