World Heritage Volunteers 2008

Twelve projects have been chosen as World Heritage Volunteers 2008 pioneers.The initiative brings
together individuals aged 16 to 30 from many nations to work on a common project that requires
teamwork and participation. The project activities have been tailored to the needs of the host
community, with a particular focus on interaction and communication with the local population.

World Heritage Volunteers - "Patrimonito Voluntary Action 2009"

The project's goal is to raise awareness about the need of protecting, preserving, and promoting cultural
and natural heritage in general, and World Heritage sites in particular. Its goal is to find ways to create a
dynamic conversation between heritage and education specialists participating in site promotion and
protection, as well as volunteers and youth groups that are developing. concrete World Heritage

World Heritage Volunteers - "Patrimonito Voluntary Action 2010"

World Heritage Volunteers 2011

World Heritage Volunteers 2012

Living beyond borders and borders appears to be one of mankind's dreams, and our shared past is
littered with travelers who have attempted to realize it. But, given that we can go beyond regions and
borders by plane or train, does it mean we can live outside them as well? WHV workcamps will take
place this year in 40 world heritage sites and 25 countries across all continents. The project will involve
33 youth organizations and some 700 volunteers who will cross borders, share their cultures, and unite
to preserve natural sites, restore archaeological finds, and raise awareness amongst local communities
about their heritage.

Following the January Call for Project Proposals, 48 projects from 47 World Heritage sites in 28 countries
were chosen to participate in "World Heritage Volunteers (WHV) 2013 - Patrimonio Voluntary Action,
Inspiring Change."

World Heritage Volunteers 2014

The WHV 2014 provides young people with difficult opportunity to explore beyond boundaries, discuss
cultures, and collaborate to protect natural places, repair archaeological finds, and increase awareness
of their history among local populations. Hands-on skills training and workshops will be incorporated
into the events to encourage youth volunteers to develop talents and basic preventive, preservation, and
conservation skills. Working sessions on World Heritage concerns will also be held, as well as initiatives

World Heritage Volunteers 2015

This year's campaign, WHV 2015: Patrimonito Takes a Stand in a Changing Global Environment, presents
young people with challenging possibilities to participate in World Heritage maintenance and promotion.
The youth action camps take place on the ground, in close proximity to a World Heritage site or a
property on the country's Tentative List. Information sessions on concerns relating to World Heritage,
interacting with local people and site and local authorities, workshops, and practical hands-on activities
giving some basic preventive, preservation, and conservation skills are all part of the two-week

The World Heritage Volunteers (WHV) 2016:

The World Heritage Volunteers initiative, which is currently in its ninth year of mobilizing youngsters to
preserve and promote World Heritage by reaching out to their peers and communities, is exemplified by
the Together for Heritage campaign. From the exceptional monuments and buildings of Nepal's
Kathmandu Valley to the massive pyramids of Mexico's Pre-Hispanic City of Teotihuacan, from the
vineyards of France's Jurisdiction of Saint-Emilion to the vertiginous peaks of Uganda's Rwenzori
Mountains National Park, or even the narrow streets of Fez's Medina, the local and international
volunteers of the WHV 2016 have seen it all. held at several of the most outstanding sites in the world.

The World Heritage Volunteers (WHV) 2017

The local and international volunteers of the WHV 2017 will be involved in projects held at some of the
most outstanding places in the world, from the Vajrayogini temples of Kathmandu Valley in Nepal to the
16th-Century Monasteries on the Slopes of Popocatepetl in Mexico, from the parks and gardens of
Classical Weimar in Germany to the vertiginous peaks of Rwenzori Mountains National Park in Uganda.
The WHV 2017 will provide volunteers with the opportunity to immerse themselves in learning about
day-to-day living at a World Heritage site, as well as gain fundamental preservation and conservation
skills and engage in intercultural interactions with local residents. while being involved in World Heritage
preservation and promotion.

This year’s theme for the World Heritage Volunteers (WHV) 2018

Empowering World Heritage Commitment is the name of the campaign. From June to December 2018,
44 groups from 28 countries will undertake 51 action camp programs at 50 World Heritage assets and
sites included on the Tentative Lists. The WHV 2018 campaign empowers and enriches young people by
allowing them to go across national lines to some of the world's most beautiful locations. Volunteers will
collaborate to protect natural and cultural resources while also raising awareness of their legacy among
local

Empowering Commitment to World Heritage

Empowering Commitment to World Heritage is this year's topic for the World Heritage Volunteers (WHV)
2019 campaign. From June to December 2019, 55 groups from 36 countries will execute 68 action camp
programs at 62 World Heritage assets and locations included on the Tentative Lists. The WHV 2019
campaign empowers and enriches young people by allowing them to travel beyond boundaries to some
of the world's most beautiful destinations. Volunteers will collaborate to protect natural and cultural
resources while also raising awareness of their legacy among local populations.
