10.6 Assembly Instructions
10.6.1 Notes
We recommend monitoring and management of system assembly by our personnel.

This way, you can benefit from the many years of experience of our employees in the
assembly of ANDRITZ machines. At the same time, safety during assembly and
functionality of the entirety of machines acc. to the performance values can be ensured.
Many of our recommendations are of fundamental nature. Local legal provisions and
contractual agreements must be observed when implementing these
recommendations. Furthermore, the special assembly instructions of the suppliers of
individual components, such as pumps, heat exchangers, filters, motors, valves, piping,
pneumatic and hydraulic components, rectifiers, instruments, etc. must be strictly
fulfilled.
The local safety regulations applicable at the installation location must be met during
assembly, commissioning, and operation planning and execution. To ensure safety, an
authorized assembly manager is to be appointed for assembly planning and execution.
The manager responsibly monitors compliance with the safety guidelines and safety
information of this operating manual and all applicable safety regulations during work
planning and execution.
It cannot be emphasized enough that safety is of highest priority. Safety measures and
personal protective equipment of the employees must be used at all times
Assembly may be carried out exclusively by trained expert personnel.
Execution of the individual assembly steps must be documented in the final assembly
report.
10.6.2 Machine safety
Machine safety must be marked acc. to EN 61310-1 as well as local standards and
rules.
10.6.2.1 Color marking
Hazard zones must be marked using black-yellow stripes.
10.6.2.2 Pipelines
Pipelines must be marked with pipeline designations, flow direction, and medium code.
Readable medium designations are necessary to ensure safety, appropriate
maintenance, and effective firefighting. The marking is used to prevent accidents and
severe injuries.

10.6.2.3 System component
All safety-related information can be found in the documentation of sub-suppliers (see

table of contents) and/or in chapter 1 "Safety Instructions" of the operating manual.
10.6.3 Prerequisites at the assembly location
The following additional documentation is required prior to assembly start:
· Foundation and installation plan
· Assembly drawings for the individual assemblies
· Pipe connection diagram
· Electrical, measuring, and control technology documentation
· Parts lists of the individual assemblies
· Packing lists of the individual deliveries
The space requirement for assembly, operation, and maintenance is defined in

consultation with the responsible employee of ANDRITZ AG prior to assembly start.
The ambient temperature should not undercut 10–15 °C during assembly work.
10.6.4 Preparatory activities
The foundation is to be carried out acc. to foundation plan 509003587 Rev. C.
The following must be prepared at the foundation prior to installing the steel
construction:
· Mark the axes and heights at the foundation.
· Check the execution of the foundation before starting any assembly work.

10.6.5 Assembly sequence

1. Attach the auxiliary fixtures with the swivel eyebolts to the outer four holes of
the side parts using the screws (M12, strength class 10.9).

2. Attach the sling gear to the swivel eyebolts and the crane hook. The opening
angle of 80° must not be exceeded.
3. Lifting the element.
4. If the auxiliary fixtures are further used, the screws for attachment to the
element must be replaced with new ones.

1. Attach the sling gear to the eyebolts and the crane hook. The opening angle
of 80° must not be exceeded.

10.6.5.3 Foundation preparations
1. Prior to placing the elements onto the foundation, the assembly line shall be
marked in the foundation and checked for dimensional accuracy, parallelism,
perpendicularity, and flatness.

2. For later alignment of the feed and ejector modules, the positions of the
levels between feed module and dryer housing and/or dryer housing and
ejector module must be marked on the foundation (see Fig. 6).
10.6.5.4 Dryer attachment on the foundation
1. The belt dryer is attached to the respective foundation using composite

anchors (e.g., Hilti, Fischer) after alignment.
2. Floating and fixed points must be considered according drawing no.

703258693.
10.6.5.5 Installation sequence
1. Setup and alignment of the discharge module drawing no. 703241909 bottom
part. acc. to the markings on the foundation (see chapter 10.6.5.3
"Foundation preparations"). The bottom part is preassembled. Afterwards
the discharge module top part shall be mounted. It must mainly be ensured
that alignment in the longitudinal direction is given to enable high dimensional
accuracy during later dryer housing installation.
2. During further installation of the elements, sealing tape / glue must be

inserted between every joint to ensure air-tightness of the entire belt dryer.
3. The middle part of the belt dryer is consisting of 9 modules. Each module
must get assembled according to drawing no. 703257984. In this drawing the
different plates of the modules are shown as they have to get installed. Item
drawing number is stamped on each individual plate to prevent confusion.

4. Before complete assembly of the middle part sections, it is recommended to

install the following items to the individual sections:
- belt support (drawing no. 703258874)
- filter belt side covers (drawing no. 703259973, 703240788,
703240792, 703240785)
- air distribution plates (drawing no. 703260036, 703212261)
5. After pre-assembling the individual sections of the middle part install and
align the middle part on the foundation. Bolt the individual sections together
starting at the discharge module and moving towards the feeding module.
6. Place the discharge module top section (drawing no. 703241889) onto
middle part and output module, align, seal, and connect with bolts.

7. Place the feeding module (drawing no. 703239195) to the middle part and
check for parallelism and alignment. The feeding module has been
preassembled at the manufacturing works.
8. Install, seal, and bolt feeding module to the middle part.
9. Check the position and alignment of the complete belt dryer bottom part on
the foundation (see Fig. 6).
10. Attach the remaining support frames (drawing no. 703258874). During
operation the support frames (with mounted slide rails) together with the slide
plates of the feed module and the upper surface of drive roll and tension roll
will form the belt running level.
11. Check the flatness of the entire belt running level and the rollers. A flatness
of ± 1 mm must be ensured.
12. Seal the complete area of the joints between the support frames.

10.6.5.6 Adjusting the foundation attachment
Due to the required expansion possibility of the belt dryer, the foundation screws in the
center of the dryer may be tightened to a tightening torque of 25 Nm for M12 threads
only (see Fig. 6 item 2, fixed screw connection and drawing no. 703258693).
All other foundation attachments must be adjusted and locked to a tightening torque of
5 Nm.
The fixed points should be marked on the foundation. The levels between feed module
and dryer housing as well as dryer housing and ejection module should be marked on
the foundation as well. This way, the temperature expansion can be checked during
commissioning.

10.6.5.7 Roller alignment

Belt alignment with rollers
The drive and tension rollers must be set up at the height of the belt run level. The
maximum permissible deviation amounts to ± 1 mm.
1. The brackets, on which the pedestal bearing of the rollers are placed, must
be positioned such that the upper surface of the rollers is flush with the
support frames and slide plates. The entire belt run level must be horizontally
aligned.
2. The brackets must be pinned to assure mounting in exactly the same position
in case of maintenance or repair.

The instructions in the component documentations must be observed when assembling

the individual components.
10.6.5.9 Noise and vibration-reducing measures
No additional noise and vibration-reducing measures are required.

· Parts lists of the individual assemblies

· Packing lists of the individual deliveries

The space requirement for assembly, operation, and maintenance is defined in
