15 NEW DISCOVERIES

SONATRACH has strenghtened its position on the

global market of Oil & Gas, thanks to 15 discoveries
registered in 2022 of which 3 in partnership.

Among these discoveries, are :

•D
 iscovery of condensate gas in the perimeter Amenas 2, in
the Illizi Basin where the registered flows reached 300.000
cubic meters per day of gas and 26 cubic meter /day of
condensate, 213.000 cubic meters of gas and 17 cubic
meters of condensate

•D
 iscoveries jointly with ENI in the exploration block
Seif Fatima 2 located in Berkine. The field produced
1 300 barrels of oil per day and 51 000 cubic meters of
associated gas.

•D
 iscoveries in the research zone of Taghit, in the
Bechar Basin confirming the existence of an important
potential in this zone.

SONATRACH has also registered an important discovery

of condensate gas in the perimeter of the Hassi R,Mel
exploitation field in which significant hydrocarbon
volumes have been proved, with estimations between
100 and 340 cubic meters of condensate gas.

These volumes constitute one of the most important

reserve reevaluations over the last 20 years.

EXPLORATION & PRODUCTION
3 AGREEMENTS UNDER THE 19-13 HYDROCARBON LAW
•S
 igning under the 19-13 hydrocarbon
law of three (3) production sharing
agreements , the first one with ENI,
the second with Sinopec and the last
one with the consortium Occidental
Petroleum Corporation, ENI and
TotalEnergies.
With these three agreements,
SONATRACH and its partners plan to
raise nearly six (6) billion $ to develop the
concerned fields while at the same time
improving the extraction of crude oil,
condensate, LPG and NG and extending
lifetime of the exploitation of these fields.

The signing of these agreements testify
of the attractiveness of the new 19-13 Law

 PIPELINE TRANSPORT

SONATRACH owns a pipeline network of 21 190 km, comprising 22 systems of pipe

transport (STC) articulated around 43 pipelines of which 23 gas pipelines.

Among the realizations we count :

•A
 ddition of transport pipeline at the
compression station in Ouargla to
secure the transport capacity of of
STC GR1/GR2/GR4/GR6 ( South-East
Alrar-Hassi R,Mel) and to benefit from
a flexibility of exploitation on this route.
• Inspection by scraper with equipped
instruments for over 2000km of
pipeline with different diameters.
Commissioning of pipelines supervision
center of Transport Activity at Sidi Arcine.
As an instrument for decision-taking in
flow monitoring, it provides a global view
of the hydrocarbon transport network
and view in real time the exploitation
parameters, technical data of the
installations and the situation of the
stockyards.

KEY FIGURES

SONATRACH is ranked as one of the most important

sources of gas supply in the world and first LNG
exporter in Africa, thanks to its export capacities via
gas pipelines and also its LNG Tankers.

Among the realisations we count :

• Dismantling of the old main cryogenic ( MCHE) of train

100 and its replacement by a new one.

• Launching of revamping and upgrading projects of

equipment in production sites and LNG complexes.

• Pursuing the works for the realization of a storage

tank project.

Appreciable progress , more than 85 %, of the extension

works and realization of a new loading jetty at the port
of Skikda.

These projects will improve the export flexibility and

the reception of high capacity vessels for the supply of
remote regions.

REFINING

SONATRACH owns five (5) crude oil refineries with a processing capacity of 25 million
tons per year and a condensate refinery with a processing capacity of 5 million tons
per year.

Among the realizations we count: •L

 ptimization of the refining performance
in order to meet all the needs of the
domestic market with fuels without
relying to imports.
•F
 inalization of the FEED and launching
of the selection of the builder for the
fuel hydrocracking project in Skikda.
This project aims to valorize the oil
fuel available at the refinery for the
production of gas oil.
 aunching of the construction project
of a new naphta reforming unit at Arzew
refinery, with a production capacity of
1.2 million tons of gasoline.
52% of the products provided by the
refineries are intended to cover the
needs of the domestic needs especially
with LPG, gasoline, gas oil and lubricants.
The rest of production is for export such
as naphta, fuel oil, and aromatics.

Petrochemicals is a strategic focus for SONATRACH permitting valorization of its

hydrocarbons, satisfaction of the domestic market needs, creating jobs and boosting
small and medium sized enterprises in the segments using petrochemical products.

SONATRACH has concluded many agreements to strengthen Algeria’s position as a
reliable supplier on the global gas market
Among these agreements :

 igning of an agreement with the Greek
energy Group DEPA for the extension
of the long term contracy relating to
the sale purchase of LNG on the Greek
market.
•S
 igning of an agreement with ENI in
order to increase the volume of exported
gas using the capacities available of the
Enrico Mattei (Transmed) gas pipeline
with new contract provisions linked yo
prices revision.
•S
 igning of an agreement with ENEL
within the frame of natural gas
purchase/sale contracts destined to the
Italian and Spanish markets with price
adjustment according to the market
conditions.

 ENERGY TRANSITION

SONATRACH has placed the reduction of carbon

footprint at the core of ts strategy and ambitions to
be an efficient player in the value chain of renewable
energies.

Among the achievements :

• Launching of first construction works of a new

photovoltaic solar power station «BRN2» jointly with
ENI.

• Signing of an agreement with the partner ENI in order

to develop pilot projects for green hydrogen and
biofuels.

• Signing of a MoU with the German company VNG AG

for the development of green hydrogen and ammonia.

Solar Lab inaugurated with the aim to evaluate

the photovoltaic technologies and measuring the
environmental data with intelligent systems.

This lab is open to universities for research purposes.

Several projects are planned in order to enable SONATRACH to reach on the long
term its targets of flared gas reduction to less than 1% and eliminated the routine
flaring by the horizon 2030.
