The five fundamental principles

1. The term goshi (五始) represents the five foundations of life.

2. Goshi (五始) can also be said as genshi (原始) the foundation of all things.
3. The origin of the universe is based on Ikki (⼀気) – a singularity of chi.
4. The principle behind the universe has various names: Taikyoku (⼤極) Supreme Ultimate,
Taisho (⼤初) the Great Origin and Taiitsu (⼤⼀) the Great One.
5. From the singularity came the chi of yin and the chi of yang.
6. From the chi of yin and the chi of yang came the Five Phases (五⾏).
7. From the movement of all chi types came everything in the universe.
8. Humans are constructed of correctly aligned chi.
9. Animals have improper chi.
10. The human body is a mirror of heaven above and earth below.
11. Have a proper understanding and relationship with the Way – dō (道).
12. Understand and use toku (徳) virtue – honesty within your mind.
13. Understand and use jin (仁) benevolence – compassion for all things.
14. Understand and use gi (義) righteousness – value the good and separate from the bad.
15. Understand and use rei (禮) courtesy – be mindful in your actions.
16. Know that literacy is not wisdom.
