Afterwards, she introduced the topic in which she presented the models of literature and
the approaches under every model.
Approaches of Literature
After introducing the model and it’s approaches, she gave the floor to Ms. Agan to
discuss the cultural model.
Cultural Model
A model that views a literary text as a product This means that it is treated as a source
of information about the target culture.
Information Based Approach
This approach is teacher-centered approach. The input in giving student's
various contents of literary text like on historical, political, and cultural and social
background.
After Ms. Agan discuss the cultural model and it’s approach, she pass the facilitation of
discussion to Ms. Formentera to discuss the language model and it’s approaches.
Language Model
The model is a source of information about the target culture. It is the most
traditional approach, often used in university courses on literature.
Paraphrastic Approach
It is primarily paraphrasing and rewording the text to simpler language or use other
languages to translate it.
Stylistic Approach
It is an approach that implies literary critics and linguistics analysis. It is for students to
appreciate and understand the literary text in a deeper manner.
It helps students pay attention to the way the language is used when studying literature.
It student-centered and activity-based for productive use of language.
After Ms. Formentera discuss the language model and it’s approaches, she pass the
facilitation of discussion to Mr. Ahit to discuss the personal growth model and it’s
approaches.
A model that encourages students to voice their own opinions regarding the text. It is
also student-centered; it also provides interaction between reader and text.
Personal-Response Approach
This pproach encourages students to make sense of their experiences and personal
lives with text hemes, it also promotes students to associate the subject matters of the
reading texts with personal life experiences.
Moral-Philosophical Approach
Learners seek moral values from a particular literary text while reading it. It helps
students to be aware of moral and philosophical values and identify them.
After Mr. Ahit reports about the Personal-Growth Model, Ms. Formentera gave a
summary about what had been discuss and ask the class about what they have learned
from the second competency afterwards the class was dismissed by Prof. Jarantilla.
