let me introduce myself,
My name is Kseniya and for past three years crocheting is my hobby. I'm
absolutely obsessed with crocheting Amigurumi toys and photographing my
toys in the best way to preset my creations. Perhaps, the idea to combine
these two kinds of expressing myself is the true reason why I'm so
obsessed with amigurumi and that is why we are both here to crochet the
swetest little apple - Apple Guy.

Apple Guy is my first project what was born in my head without any tips or
inspiring images. I saw an apple and thgought - i need my own one. I need
an apple that noone else created before. It will be simple and cute.

Please don't be shocked with his little bit crazy look and different eyes.
Some say it's very hard to find the fruits free of pesticides now. Was Apple
Guy pesticed? Who knows. I like to think he is just a cute shy and little bit
exited in the same time little apple.

yarn for the boddy in the  green color YarnArt Jeans #29,
yarn for the arms and the stalk in the brown color YarnArt Jeans #70,
yarn for the eyes in the milk color YarnArt Jeans #03,
yarn for the cheeks in the pink color,
yarn for the leafs in the dark-green color Alize Cotton Gold #372,
wire dia 2 mm, 2 pieces about 15 cm/ 5.9 inches long each piece,
adhesive plaster,
safety eyes - 2 pcs. dia 10 mm and и 12 mm,
a tapestry needle,
crochet hook Clover 2 mm or any 1,75mm type you prefer,
scissors,
some pins,
knitting markers,
fiberfill,
happy vibes.
thread thickness:
This materials are only a list of my recomendation to help YarnArt Jeans - 160m/50g
you create the toy like mine is. You could use any tipe/size Cotton Golg - 330m/100g
of the yarn and the hook, but you must understand it will
follow to changing toy's final look.

 Factors to Consider When
Determining Yarn Amounts

1. The first and the most obvious factor is a crochet hook size. If you will use the yarn
mentioned in the materials list and a crochet hook size other than recommended one, it
would affect the yarn amount necessary for your project. If you choose a larger crochet
hook, then you will need much yarn and if you go for a smaller crochet hook - then you
will need less yarn than it is specified in the material list.

2. The second factor – your typical tension when crocheting. The gauge and tension is
going to make a difference with the amount of yarn used because it allows for more or
less space between stitches. The tighter your stitches, the less yarn you need.

3. The third and very important condition – your stitches shape: V-shape, X-
shape/semi-X. The stitch shape depends on what crochet technique you use – yarn
over or yarn under.

If you wrap the thread, placing the hook underneath the yarn strand (circular
movement of the hook from the right to the left) – this makes V-shaped stitch, if you
put the hook over the yarn strand (circular movement from the right to the left) – this
makes X-shaped stitches, and if you make yarn under then yarn over, this technique
gives us semi-X stitches. You will need much more yarn for the fabric made in Yarn
Over technique compared with the amount needed for Yarn Under technique.

Why did I specify the yarn density in the materials list? If you don’t have the same
brand that I recommended, You should use the yarn weight as substitution with any
risk of miscalculation for the toy and clothes sizes.

The number in brackets at the end of every round means a total number of
stitches in the round,
(…) * n – means that you should repeat the combination of stitches n times.

In this pattern we use US terminology.

Choose the correct hook size which is appropriate for the yarn you are going to
use. Your choice can be different from mine, but please pay attention to the fact,
that the size of the toy and the clothes will be different when you use other yarn
and other hook size.

Use a stitch marker for your convenience and rounds counting.

The scarecrow is crocheted in semi-X stitches. Shift stitches are calculated

precisely for this technique. If You crochet the stitches with Yarn Overs, then
You will need to determine the symmetry of the pieces and the number of shift
stitches and their location by yourself.

Stuff all the pieces as you go, firmly (unless otherwise stated), gradually adding
small portions of stuffing and forming necessary shapes of pieces.

About yarn change. I recommend to change color in the last stitch of a round,
before you start the round with a new color. Work this last stitch with thread of
a new color in the following way: pull up a loop with the yarn you're working
with and then finish with yarn new one.

About increases. I make invisible increases - work in FLO, but it's easier to
make classic increases in some stitches - in both loops.

The apple measures is 7 cm tall (2.6 inches) in case of using the materials
listed and crocheting in semi-X stitch.

Insert the eyes between rounds 21 and 22 wi th 10 sti tches di stance apart. I
recommend that you mel t the back of the safety eyes wi th the l i ghter for extra
safety.
I use a househol d l i ghter. But be careful i n usi ng i t, because you coul d damage or
di rty the crocheted pi ece and you mi ght burn i t. Press mel ted part of the back si de
the eye wi th a l i ghter or a kni fe to secure i t.

easi er. I f i t' s necessary, I use a hook of bi gger si ze to make the hol e a l i ttl e bi t
wi der.

Attach the whi te of the eyes after you' ve fi l l ed the appl e wi th the fi ber. I nsert the
eyes i n 1 sti tch cl oser to outsi de of the MR.

Choose the pl ace for the arms. I have i nsert i t i n the mi ddl e of the body (between
rounds 21 and 22), devi di ng the appl e i n hal fs wi th the wi re from i nsi de. I nsert the
both pi ece of the wi re, twi st i ts ends and wrap i t wi th the adhesi ve pl aster.

When the body will be complete and stuffed we wil sew the arms to it.
Continue to crocheting the body stuffing it in process.

long (about 40 cm/15,75 inches) tail.

Now we need to bring to our apple right shape.

assembling
All is left is the most important step - to pick
all parts of the toy together.

1.Sew the arms to the body with the thread we

left. Use tiny stitches. Fassten off.

2. Make cuffs by the attaching the thread in

the place of going out the arm from the body.
Attach the thread and pull a loop next to the
arm and make 1 rnd with sc around the arm,
pulling loops between the stitches of the body.
Fasten off, inmitating a loop.

3. Attach the whites of the eyes using pins to secure all the parts of the face. Sew
it, working with both loops. Mark the eyebrows using the pins.

4. Embroider the eyebrows. Make 2-3
lengthwise stitches from the one pin to the
other one. Wrap this stitches with the needle
with the thread using transverse stitches. To
be sure the eyebrow will noth wobbled make a
couple stitches throught the body too.

Please take your attention on the thread

tension. If it will be not strong enough the
eyebrow will be wobbled and doesn't look
nice.

5. Choose the placement of the stalk, fix it using a pin and sew it to the apple.
Fassten off.

6. Fix the cheeks using the pins and sew it with tiny stitches, working with both of
the loops.

7. Sew the leafs to the stalk and the arms. The
big ones must be placed on the stalk and small
ones on the arms, one to the each arm.

8. Cut a several little pieces of the brown

thread and attached it in the deepening of the
apple's bottom using the hook.
