So the video represents communication through different ways. Maraming paraan kung paano
tayo makipagcommunicate, each of which plays an important role in sharing information. The
way we communicate is not simply through text or reading material but also through many
different modes. Hindi lang isa, hindi lang dalawa, hindi lang tatlo, kundi maraming paraan kung
paano tayo makipag-usap or makipagtalakayan sa ibang tao. Mapa-salita man, pa-sulat or kahit
maging sa paggalaw natin, all of these are modes of communication.

When we look at multimodality, we take into account:

- Medium is the channel or system through which communications are conveyed
Ito yung mga semiotic resources na ginagamit natin para maipakita ang ISANG MODALITY OF
communication

Pag sinabi nating semiotic resources, these are the resources that we use to refer to a means
for meaning making. Ito yung mga actions, materials and artifacts na ginagamit natin for
communicative purposes. For example, images are semiotic resources. Bakit? kasi ito yung
ginamit nating medium to convey meaning to the audience. Pag tumitingin tayo sa mga pictures,
diba nakakapagconstruct tayo ng certain kind of meaning? By just looking at them,
nakakapagvisualize agad tayo ng ideas and concepts, like about saan yung picture, sino sino
yung mga nasa picture, para saan yung picture na yon and such. These resources fall into
different modalities of communication. In the example, we use images to convey information
that falls into visual modality of communication.
Hindi lng by visual pwede tayo makapagbigay ng meaning to the audience. So tanda niyo pa ba
yung different modalities/modes of communication
So there are 5 different modes of communication

It usually encompasses both verbal communication and paralinguistic communication to convey

meaning. Music, sound and even spoken leanguage are examples of aural mode.

The mode includes word choice and vocabulary, grammars, the delivery of written or spoken
text and the organization of words into sentences and paragraphs.

Moving forward
While the development of multimodal literacy is strongly associated with the growth of digital
communication technologies, multimodal is not synonymous with digital. The choice of media for
multimodal text creation is therefore always an important consideration.

A multimodal text can be paper – such as books, comics, posters.

A multimodal text can be digital – from slide presentations, e-books, blogs, e-posters, web
pages, and social media,

A multimodal text can be live – a performance or an event.

And, a multimodal text can be transmedia– where the story is told using ‘multiple delivery
channels’ through a combination of media platforms, for example, book, comic, magazine, film,
web series, and video game mediums all working as part of the same story.

Creating or producing multimodal texts is concerned with designing which can be defined as "an
active process of integrating and composing various modes for representing meaning potentials
in multimodal texts"

Because it is a complex meaning design process that requires the strategic orchestration of a
combination of modes such as image, movement, sound, spatial design, gesture, and language.
