CONSTRUCTION WORKERS’ SCOPE OF WORK

 He sees the crew follows all the required


construction methods.
 Checks the project is proceeding according to
the construction timetable plan, and that each
job is accomplished in the proper sequence.
 He understands the safety procedures and
keeps the crew following the rules.
 Helps the work environment safety.
 Oversees the various aspects of the project
such as digging footings, framing walls,
LEADMEN installing windows, and finishing the trim.
 Looks ahead, ordering needed supplies
ahead of time and ensuring subcontractors
are scheduled in advance.
 He keeps the team in line, and sees the
workers show up on time and maintains
cleanliness in job site.
 He handles the site foreman’s duties
whenever he’s not available.
 He takes care of paperwork.

 He helps put together the physical


infrastructure of a steel-framed building.
 He assembles hoisting equipment and rigging,
such as cables, pulleys, and hooks, to move
heavy equipment and materials.
 Bolts aligned structural-steel members in
position for permanent riveting, bolting, or
welding into place.
 Connect columns, beams, girders with bolts,
STEELMEN following blueprint and instructions from
supervisors.
 Drive drift pins through rivet holes in order to
align rivet holes in structural-steel members
with corresponding holes in previously places
members.
 Force structural-steel members into final
positions, using tumbuckles, crowbars, jacks,
and hand tools.

 Installs foundations, walls, floors, ceilings, and


roofs using materials such as wood, steel,
metal, concrete, plastics, and composites of
multiple materials.
 Fits and installs window frames, doors, door
frames, door hardware, interior and exterior
trim using a carpenter’s level, plumb bob, and
laser levels.
 Erects scaffolding and ladders for assembling
CARPENTERS structures above ground levels.
 Studies specifications in blueprints, sketches,
or building plans to prepare project layout and
determine dimensions and materials required.
 Shapes, or cuts materials to specified
measurements, using hand tools, machines, or
power saws.
 Follows established safety rules and
regulations and maintaining a safe and clean
environment.
 Inspects ceiling or floor tile, wall coverings,
siding, glass, or woodwork to detect broken or
damaged structures.
 Cleans up worksite debris.

 Masonry workers use bricks, concrete and


concrete blocks, and natural and manmade

stones to build structures.

 Tile setters are design professionals who cover


interior and exterior walls in various types and
styles of tile.
 They work with clients to choose between
ceramic, quarry and marble tiles, and they may

place tile on the floor, walls or ceilings within the
designated room.
 Tile setters can work for construction companies,
contractors or they may be self-employed.

 Preparing painting surfaces by washing walls,


repairing holes, or removing old paint
 Mixing, matching, and applying paints and
other finishes to various surfaces
 Providing decorative and faux finishes as the
project requires
 Handling planning and prep work in an
efficient manner
 Preparing the surrounding area by covering
with cloth or plastic to prevent messes
 Moving furniture and equipment as
necessary to reach the entire surface of the

 Calculating the amount of materials and time
required for said project
 Removing fixtures such as door knobs and
light switch covers
 Taping off areas as needed
 Choosing and purchasing paint, brushes,
and other supplies from vendors
 Quoting and negotiating job prices
 Cleaning up supplies and replacing fixtures
when project is complete
 Communicating with clients to ensure they're
getting the look they're hoping for

 A construction helper is responsible for


assisting construction workers to carry
out a variety of tasks such as tidying up
work areas, unloading materials,
preparing worksites, cleaning debris,
and executing other tasks as assigned.
LABOR/HELPERS  A variety of trades may use the services
of construction helpers, such as
carpenters, painters, plumbers,
electricians, and roofers, while some
other construction helpers may work in
various companies as full-time
employees or on a part-time basis.
 He/she is expected to complete a wide
range of duties in his or her daily
activities, including unloading materials
such as lumber, tools, and other
necessary and relevant equipment at a
construction site.
 He or she may also be required to load
materials that will be transported from
one construction site to the other.
 Another duty that is carried out by a
construction helper is to set up
equipment that will be used on a
construction site, which may involve
setting up workstations, running lines
for power tools, erecting scaffolding,
laying out tools, preparing forms for the
pouring of concrete on foundations,
handing various tools to workers as
they perform their various tasks.
 A construction helper may also be
responsible for assisting with framing
and other tasks or for performing light
construction duties such as pouring
concrete on foundations, installing
sheetrock, operating various equipment,
digging trenches, nailing boards
together for framing, assisting
tradesmen with the installation of
windows, electrical or plumbing
systems, or other areas of the
construction project.
