The Assignment’s Learning Objectives

The learning objectives for this assignment are to help you:

1. to achieve Knowledge about your current chosen field of engineering,

2. to achieve Awareness about other fields of engineering, and
3. to achieve Comprehension in your ability to research and present a topic.

The Assessment Rubric

Your tutorial and tutorial materials will be assessed using Engineering The Profession Tutorial Materials Checklist which given as attachment to this assignment.

The Assignment

You are to research and become an “expert” about your current engineering major. Once you have become an “expert” you are to prepare a six-minute oral tutorial
about your major that you will present to a small group of your colleagues in class.

There are numerous things you could include in your tutorial; a few possible examples are:

1. What are the technical skills you think you are good at. What specialization you think they fit best? Why?

2. What are the technical skills you think you lack. What specialization you think they match? Why?

3. What are the social skills that people say you are good at. Which specialization these skills are needed for?

4. what sort of problems do engineers in your field typically work on,

5. Does your work necessitate traveling? Why?

6. What is the typical project time duration,

7. What is the latest most advanced technology in your filed. Give an example on how it is used.

8. what sort of companies hire engineers in your field,

9. How many engineers are there in your field,

10. what is the name of the professional society in your field,

11. What does the job market look like for engineers in your field,

12. How much is the salary package in your filed for starter and experienced engineers,

13. Is your filed growing in the near future in KSA, and why? Is this the same trend internationally?

There are many places you can go to get information (e.g., the library, the Web, etc.). Many of the professional societies have web pages at "www.profsoc.org", where
"profsoc" is the name of the society. A web search (e.g., Alta Vista) using +disc +profession, where "disc" is the engineering discipline, is often be productive.

The Submission

You will submit the notes and material you used in presenting your tutorial. The top sheet of your submission should be the assignment checklist
