    ABSTRACT

    Pre-design xylitol plant uses corncob as raw material. Capacity production of


    xylitol plant is 2000 ton/year in based 330 days/year. Xylitol factory is expected to
    meet the domestic demand and to open up export opportunities. The form of business
    Company Plant is PT by using the line structure and staff. Labor requirements to run
    the business amounted 97 employees. Fabric location is planned to be constructed in
    Piring Sewu, Lampung, Bandar Lampung with land area 27.490 m2. Water source for
    xylitol plant is derived from the river Way, Lampung and to meet the needs of
    electricity that obtained from State Electricity Company (PLN) and Generator
    powered 765,0669 kW. The method used is hydrolysis with HCl and hydrogenation.
    In the hydrolysis process with HCl as a catalyst, the following reactions occur:
    (C5H8O4)n + nH2O → nC5H10O5

    In the hydrogenation process of xylose to xylitol, the following reactions occur:


    C5H10O5 + H2 → nC5H12O5

    From economic analysis was obtained:

    1. Fixed Capital Investment = Rp 263.667.204.900


    2. Working Capital Investment = Rp 6.539.365.201
    3. Total Capital Investment = Rp 329.584.006.125
    4. Total Production Cost = Rp 118.126.513.094
    5. Sales Cost = Rp 231.854.814.860
    6. Net Profit = Rp 85.296.226.325
    7. Pay Out Time (POT) = 4 year 6 month
    8. Break even Point (BEP) = 31 %
    9. ROR = 26 %
    10. IRR = 23,29 %
