1. What are the main objectives or aims of population policy of Bangladesh?

Ans.: the main objectives or aims of the population policy of Bangladesh are:

a) To arrange necessary health and family welfare services for all the people of the country.

b) To strengthen family planning programme and maternity health care.

c) To reduce malnutrition of women and children.

d) To arrange health care for women and children and to ensure the full-time presence of doctor,
nurse and regular supply of medicine.

e) To spread primary health care of every people everywhere.

f) To arrange reproductive health care services for the poor people and for those people having
special demand.

g) To ensure security and health care for the older people of the country.

2. What are the government initiatives to control population?

Ans.: The initiatives which are taken by the government have been discussed below: a) Focusing
more on primary and mass education in order to remove illiteracy and to increase the rate of
education.

b) Expanding women education, e.g. supplying text books for free to all students and offering sub
scholarship to girl students.

c) Ensuring Medicare of the citizens and arranging health and family planning programme.

d) Emphasizing on marriage registration at Kazi office.

e) Emphasizing on women’s participation in different types of income generating activities e.g.


poultry farm, garments and handicrafts etc.

f) Introducing quota system in teaching and in many others fields for women empowerment.
