Notice on Course Selection and Methods for Oversea

Undergraduate International Students

Due to the Covid-19 epidemic, some international students are not in

Chinese mainland and not able to come back to school on time for

registration and classes. In order to ensure orderly teaching and overcome

the adverse impact of the epidemic on students' study, the school has

formulated a course selection and class plan for oversea international

students who cannot return to school this semester:

1. For international students in programs taught in English

Wuhan University will provide online courses for all undergraduate

students majoring in programs taught in English. Students can join the

corresponding course group or platform according to the notice from their

colleges and start classes after September 7. 2020. New students will start

online courses after October 8 because freshman are exempted from

Chinese military courses which is in September.

2. For the international students in programs taught in Chinese

A. Overseas 2020 undergraduate freshmen

①Classes will start after October 8 because freshman are exempted

from Chinese military courses which is at September.

②Online general compulsory courses will be available which

including Comprehensive Chinese Language (4 credits), Outlook of

China (2 credits), Chinese Culture (4 credits), Physical Education 1 (1

credit) and Advanced Mathematics C1 (4 credits). In addition, 14 online

general elective courses such as Chinese Language and Culture, Politics,

Economy and Law are also provided.

③For some of the major basic compulsory courses with a large

number of students, the courses will be online. For some of the

professional basic compulsory courses and professional compulsory

courses with a small number of students, recorded videos will be

uploaded to cloud platform for students to download, learning materials

and course handouts will be provided. Meanwhile course learning groups

and academic support teams will be set up to guide students' autonomous

learning.

④It's important to note that after completing pre-registration and

joining the freshmen group, overseas undergraduate students need to start

the course learning according to the procedures announced by the

Teaching Affairs Management Office of the School of International

Education.

B. Overseas senior undergraduate students of grade 2015-2019

① Elective courses in this semester will be limited to general

compulsory/elective courses offered by School of International Education

and professional compulsory/optional courses offered by your own

colleges. It is not recommended to take other courses from irrelevant

colleges in this semester.

② At the end of the course selection (audition) period, the colleges

will provide learning guidance and help based on the course selection

data of international students, mainly in the following ways:

★For some of the major basic compulsory courses with a large

number of students, the colleges will provide online courses for

international students;

★Learning materials and course handouts will be provided as well as

course learning groups and academic support teams will be set up to

guide students' autonomous learning.

★Those students who have qualified English level and have the same

requirements of elective courses (credits) as English teaching majors can

apply for transferring to English online courses.

★International students can log in to the international education

cloud platform of Wuhan University and watch some course videos.

3. Contact

The arrangement may be adjusted according to the actual situation,

and the follow-up notice will be immediately followed up. Students'

suggestions and questions about course selection and learning can be

forwarded to teachers or counselors through freshmen's QQ / wechat
