Other areas that Save the Children Focus their work

- All projects have touched the base of education and save the children does not have
project that focus on humanitarian response.
- Save the Children also has programs that focus on health and nutrition that is called
First 100 Days. This is for infants from the day they are born until the 100 th day. In this
project, they teach the parents, teachers, and health workers locally to help parents
within the first 100 days of a child. This is in related to policy in which birth at home is
not allowed.

Any unsuccessful or unpopular project

- So far none in health and nutrition since it is a need, the strategy is to utilize the existing
laws such as Child Birth.
- More access is one of the advocacies that Save the Children wants to advance to
enhance health and nutrition projects

Factors why First 100 Days is successful

- Since the project is linked to the community such as Barangay. This provides knowledge
about local leaders to know provisions to convey message and execution of projects.
- This becomes a requirement due to the participation of the local government. This
enforces the community to participate and the local government to be involved in such
projects.

Successful joint initiative in fostering child protected environment with different institutions
(public and private)
- All works within sponsorship programs are linked to the government (DOH, DSWD,
DEPED).
- Council for Children in SK Level as per the law. This is chosen by the community.
- Since there’s a lot of NGO coalitions, there’s also a connection such as UNICEF.
- Since the projects of Save the Children are policy driven, they mostly work with the local
and national government in the country.

Child’s Right and Protection under Sponsorship Department

- It is already embedded in Save the Children’s projects as it serves as their foundation.
The projects are aligned to what a child needs such as Right to Protection, Right of
Development, and Right to Survive.
 - There’s mechanism in the Save the Children to ensure Right of Protection. This is
connection with the community in rescuing and deploying actions. Save the children
only serves as the linkage.

Small scale program by Save the Children

- The programs are aimed to be sustainable as their projects are policy driven or building.

Main challenge in educational projects of save the children

- Educating the parents as they have other priorities. Since parents and community who
are around the child must be knowledgeable, it is hard to reach and connect with them.
