The economic units are individuals and organizations whose behavior is interested the economy and by analysis can be considered as decisions units. Then the economic analysis focus on the interactions of the economic units, in which are associated significant decisions for any economic problem at consideration. Sometimes the economy refers Economic unit as the firm that makes production decisions. These include what goods to produce, how these goods are to be produced and what prices to charge. It employs the various factors in production, and it sells the finished goods to the household for consumption. As we can see in the chart of above the smaller groups have more economic activity than the bigger groups. In certain issues relevant economic unit is the individual, but generally is an organization whose decisions are assumed consistent, as if it were a single individual. These companies or individuals also act as economic agents that are a basic unit where they generates and make decisions regarding economic activity, and as economic agents are individuals or companies that perform any type of economic activities, because these also act as economic agents and directly or indirectly affect the economy. The economic units are also known as Human Exploitation Units or human economic units because in some states considered as full citizens to economic, social and political corporations. But for a census I think that what you mean by economic units is the family. Sometimes industries,households (not the same family) may be individuals, businesses.
