1. Current check When the motor is running we can monitor the state of the motor by checking the
electric
current acting on the motor. Make sure the electric current acting on the motor is still below the
maximum current listed on the motor nameplate. Or also we can do the calculation: I max = P / V.
cos Phi. 1.73 If the motor working flow is still below the max current listed on the nameplate or
calculation results, the motor is still in good condition. If the current exceeds the full load ampere
listed on the motor nameplate. We have to check the load that is driven by the motor either pump,
compressor or whatever. It could also be overcurrent due to internal motor, for example bearing
conditions that have worn out so that friction occurs between the rotor and bearing. If we do not
overcome this, there will be a short circuit on the motor due to the failure of the insulation due to
the excess current borne by the induction motor.
- Breakdown Maintenance
Then what steps can we take if there is damage to the motor means that the motor is totally dead
and cannot be run. Basically in accordance with the working principle of the motor that the movement
of the motor is produced from electromagnetic induction that occurs so that if there is no rotation the
first thing we need to check is whether the windings on the motor that produce electromagnetic
induction are in good condition or not.
1. Rewinding This induction motor is the most severe damage that occurs in an electric motor / induction
motor. Repair that we can do to repair the damage to the windings is rewinding. Damage like this occurs
if the motor experiences a short circuit in the winding, either due to protection that fails to work or also
damage isolation due to the deteriorating quality of insulation due to age or water.
2. Bearing replacement Bearing bearing is done because bearings have a lifetime so that no matter
how good the lubrication we provide, bearing replacement is still done. Lifetime Bearing according
to the size and speed of the induction motor for example 10000 Running Hour for speed
of 3000 rpm. If we do not replace bearings according to the provisions, it will be able to conclude
vibrations on the motor and can even cause the motor to experience short circuits because the rotor
rotation that is not balanca can touch the windings and damage them.
3. Rotor Balancing Balancing Rotor is also needed when we replace bearings. Because worn bearing
may have caused vibrations and made the rotor construction no longer Balanca. For that, when we
replace bearings, it helps us also do balancing on the rotor so that the improvements we do are
better.
